Silent band, vinyl LP

I played this today and realized there is a band at the end of each side that runs silently for roughly thirty seconds before the stylus continues to the dead wax. I don’t ever remember seeing this.
Is this common? I think it’s brilliant.

I have an old Johnny Winter album entitled ‘Second Winter’ that has two records but only three sides of music. The fourth side is all runout good that lasts for a good while. I used to use it to check for rumble and sign of hum back in the 70s.
