I was playing a record today. When the stylus reached the run out groove I heard a sound that seemed to be in the lower midrange of frequencies. It resembled hum but at a higher frequency. I suspected the motor of my turntable was causing the noise. I lifted the belt off the motor pulley, set the stylus down on the record, turned the motor back on and did not hear any noise. I was glad for that. It was at that point I realized I was hearing the sound of the cutting lathe motor. Now there is something you will never hear on in a digital recording. The only chance would be a direct to disk analog recording that has been remastered to digital. I would like to say that this was only on one particular record. That is not to say that there are not more records out there with a similar noise.
