A lot of what? John_H has a good point. This combing business is I understand a significant issue, although it often measures worse than it actually sounds in smaller rooms. Dispersion, especially off axis, is critical. Paul slags off Sonos, but such units are more focused on dispersion other than absolute sound quality, the Devialet Reactor is astonishing in that regard as it is designed to double as a PA unit. Harbeth are very good off axis. Some speakers are exceptional if you have your head fixed in a vice. The AN3 mid/treble baffle does look a bit weird and an explanation would be helpful, after all USA customers are expected to buy direct online.
Jeebus…Nevermind.
Oooh - gonna spin some Amurican rawk.
Do you contact all speaker manufacturers and demand explanations of their designs?
Let Chris do his thing. Those who like how it sounds will buy it. Those who don’t, won’t.
Yeah, close:
M6 = 176

Oooh. I gots Monies Wood.
Yes, I virtually always contact the manufacturer when I am considering a product, or have been to a dealer demonstration. That includes Linn, Harbeth, Devialet, Origin Live, Claro, Vertere, Townshend and Innuos. I did not speak to PSA as I got demo units. The other one I didn’t was Shunyata as I assumed they were Japanese.
The one that drove me mad was Max Townshend, he went on for ages and drove me crazy. We spent most of the time talking about the pleasures of Tuscany. He put me off his products for a few years. I relented and now use several of his isolation products and his speaker cables.
Anyway, I intervened because I thought John_H asked a very sensible question and he got brushed off. If you run a manufacturer’s forum, you should expect to get asked technical questions about your products and answer them, as invariably occurs on the Harbeth, Roon and Auralic forums (whose products I have owned, including PSA).
I posted a link to an explanation by Piega why their design works and PSA might consider doing the same, especially if selling an expensive product online.
This is PSA’s first ever speaker design. Chris only joined the company last year. The speaker was only recently revamped. I’m betting Chris’ priority right now is getting it done and ready for sale. That is a much higher priority at the moment than spending half his working hours answering all our questions and dealing with everybody’s neurosis. Let him finish the damn thing and then he will likely have time to indulge us.
Paul has been designing speakers for years. Today I received and fired up a pair of his 30 year old Genesis IM8200 loudspeakers. I planted them right in front of my Wilson Audio Yvettes. I am astonished at what I am hearing. Astonished.
My point is this is not Paul’s first go around with speaker design. So It should be okay to ask questions here on the companies own forum. If they answer with “We’d really have to sharpen our pencils to answer that question” be afraid. lol
I’m not saying it’s not ok. It’s just that some people act like they deserve daily reports and explanations for everything. Also, nobody’s considered the fact that there may be some secret sauce that the company is not willing share for competitive reasons. Let them develop the damn thing and iron it out. When it’s done then it’s more reasonable to ask specific technical questions.
Chris said it himself: “it would be good to talk about some of these details, at some point.”.
It’s not that secret. They stuck a picture of it on the forum last September. It is a bit unusual to stick the tweeter in a baffle in front of the mid ribbon, which itself is quite recessed.
If they get this thing to a dealer near me, would like to go listen.

Only international dealers will be getting them to sell.
There are a couple of large PSA dealers just over an hour from central London, UK, none in London. I assume someone will get a pair, but the market here for speakers is a bit crowded. To be honest, it’s packed solid.
The recent postings above reminded me about the concept of detachment. Detachment from the goods/ideas of this world is a practice that probably should be talked about periodically within the PS Audio family. All family’s have some dysfunctions and this electronic community is going to have some disagreements. We are usually dealing with .1 world issues here. Be grateful we get the opportunity to participate in this hobby and don’t get too worked up about anybodys opinions. We all probably have roofs over our heads, food to eat, and a listening chair to sit in. Striving for a peaceful easy feeling here in Minnesota.
And given Minnesota winter temperatures - heat.
… And I know you won’t let me down
‘Cause I’m already standin’
On the ground ; )
Absolutely. Design is in the eye of the beholder. While I still think it doesn’t fit, will hold judgement till I see and hear in person. At this point won’t meet my needs aesthetically.
One friendly advice, if you’re keeping the wooden leg, make it a MATTE WALNUT finish! Makes a huge difference and much more suitable with newer modern or retro designs. If you look at most higher end furniture and finishes, glossy walnut is not used and this would clash. So a matte walnut should make this easier to integrate in modern decors. My 2 cents.
amen brother
…at least on this forum
Let’s hope it stays that way,
