For those who didn’t get the Paul’s Post email this morning, below is a cropped version of the sign that suggests a new Paul M. McGowan (PMG) Series PureStream DAC and Signature Preamp:
Yep - I missed that. Looks like a Signature SACD player and Phono Preamp!
Paul McGowan Signature Series – PS Audio
Check them out!
Wow, PMG Signature 512 DAC is sold out already. really?
Stock status has not been revealed yet, IMO.
Cheers.
lol HOT DEMAND! Not yet. They are coming soon. We will give updates on launch dates ASAP.
Thanks! I am happy for PSA. So many exciting new products come out. Congratulations!
Hi Aaron,
Can you please confirm if the PMG 512 DAC also can serve as a streamer replacement for the AirLens? I am a bit confused on this point. Thanks!
Bob
Im really impressed with the new PS Audio stack. I’m a fan of the PS Audio sound and I’ve been seriously considering a system with all one brand, one remote, and the synergy that comes with. I need one more thing from PS Audio,
I like my m1200’s….but can y’all come up with a pair of gan-fet mono blocks that perform on par with your current mono blocks??? They would be cheaper to produce and you would be able to be the best value for money. You could win a TON of old guy customers that would happily pay for a high performing amp they can move. Look at AGR, Orchard Audio etc. amazingly good at 5-25k per pair. (The new AGD solo’s were bonkers good)
Thanks!
Good timing! I had started to look at the DirectStream MK2, but I guess there might be something even better.
Is it placed above the Directstream DAC MKII ?
The SACD Player uses the same Marantz drive as the PST. Bad news is they only have 200-300 of them so it will be a “limited edition” according to Paul. He didn’t say much about sound quality so no idea if it is a significant upgrade over PST. Not much said about the phono stage and I didn’t see a “naked” one like the pre and DAC.
Now that’s a shame - I thought that a new SACD player supplier with an active production line might be the case given the price tag. Stereophile has been raving about the Teac Vibration-Free Rigid Disc-Clamping System (VRDS) mechanism in the VRDS 701.
I can’t believe PS Audio are listening to their customers and putting a streamer in their new DAC. This is madness! Have they finally jumped the shark??? /s
I am very happy for PSA and Paul’s new namesake line, but as a loyal customer who was early adaptor of the MII DAC, this announcement of new DAC w/ built in streamer just killed the value of my MKII. I hope they do really nice upgrade path for us early adaptors… its only 2.25 years old where the MKI lasted what 7-8 years?
Usually PS Audio has great offers for trade-in of products towards the purchase of a new one. Also just because they introduce a new product does not make the one you own instantly worst. It is still a fantastic DAC. The question I have is what is the price point of the new product.
I thought I read $8,500, which is why i figured MKII would drop
