SOTA HDMI Audio and Video Splitter/Router (8K VRROM 40Gbps)

Anyone happen to have any experience with this gizmo?:

I am trying to extend the life of my Anthem AVM 50 V2 b/c I am satisfied with its preamplifier performance, given the 2.1/7.1 channel double duty my system does, and I still think Anthem ARC room/speaker correction is one of the best DSP schemes out there – it has a light enough touch that stereo performance is enhanced yet “unmolested” to my ears.

My new Bravia 8 II TV HDMI connections are SOTA but the AVM 50 V2 Video Processing and HDMI inputs are out of date.

This HDFury kit is supposed to be able to let me send the best Audio signal to my Anthem Pre/Pro and the best Video to my TV. (I don’t do height effects/ATMOS and the surround sound CODECs that the Anthem can handle are good enough for me, for now.)

This is a niche product but maybe someone here has some experience with this or other HDFury products.

Scott

Anyone…?

I have not used this particular device, but I’ve used another that is similar to extend the life of my older Anthem receiver. It did the trick (although I used a decent linear power supply I had lying around). I’ve since upgraded to a newer processor so I can go directly from the source (an Apple TV and Kaleidescape) to the receiver. It sounds better. To confirm, I did keep the splitter in the system at first to see if I could hear the difference — I could. Good luck — let me know if you have other questions.

Thank you for the reply.

I am curious about what other device you used and, more importantly, about what you decided to move on to from your Anthem receiver (but I am a pre/pro guy and probably won’t be looking for a receiver).

Cheers.

Hey Scott — I used the Key Digital KD-S4x1X-2 for a while, maybe a year or more. I originally used an Anthem receiver as I had never done surround before and this was cost-effective way to see if I enjoyed it and what else I would need to do to make it happen. I’m in an old home in Brooklyn where it isn’t so easy (or roomy) to set up multiple speakers and run wires, etc. Once I determined I could do it and liked the surround experience, I upgraded to a processor from AudioControl (Maestro M9), which isn’t the latest model but has an HDMI board that can handle 4K, Atmos, Dolby Digital, etc. I still use it to this day very happily.

But again, I do find that introducing a splitter/extractor is an additional connection, which as you know requires even more wires. And with every additional connection the signal can degrade, which is what I found. Going straight from the Apple TV to the processor is better for me.

Happy to answer other questions or jump on a call if easier. I’m generally around this weekend.

Thank you.

Cheers.

I bought one for my A95L bravia XR. The menus on the unit display are a hassle. Better off using the lan connect through an ipad. Menus work on phone but screen lacks realestate. . The menus are more complex and daunting than bacch4mac. It is cable finicky and you need to buy only specific copper HDMI cords they recommend and get support from he Hdfury discord site. Thst’s just weird. It’s not intuitive. I need to do more homework to get it to work like I wish. But their support gets back to you quickly.

So…Should I wait until you figure out the quirks? LOL.

Or, do you recommend it?

I am also looking at this:

But I am not quite sure it fits the bill, because I think I want an HDMI cable feeding the audio to my Anthem Pre/Pro.

Happy Cake Day Scotte!!!

I have one. I used it for getting Dolby Vision on my projector. I didn’t pay much attention to the sound quality. Right now it’s not in use if you are interested in one.

The HDFury box works. It’s just a huge swiss army knife you can adjust everything about color, picture, sound and lop sync for a cajillion products. If you buy on Amazon it has returns.

Thank you,
