Sprout HiFi

Looks like Scott has launched Sprout HiFi -

The Sprout100 has always been one of my favorite pieces of audio gear, so it’s great to see it taking on a life of its own. I’m sure more details will be coming soon.

Yes, I saw his email blast, as I’m sure most of us here did. Interesting stuff. I wish him all the best. If I ever have to downsize to a retirement apartment, the Sprout (in whatever form it takes at the time) will certainly be on my shortlist.

I usually receive Scott’s emails, but I must have missed that one. Old news, I guess.

Yeah. I’m going to follow it but it does beg the question about PS Audio succession planning.

Wonder what the impetus was behind this decision?

This.

And Happy Birthday Allan! :tada:

I was thinking same thing. is Paul going to sell company? Or did Scott just want to do something on his own for real and step out of the shadow. Come back when the time comes.

Far be it from me to know much about this business, but Sprout seems to have proven itself as a very well conceived, positioned and executed product.

There are a lot of “young(er) folks” with plenty of purchasing power in this sector of the market (read: much lower priced than PSA market position) and who has really “spoken” to them in as meaningful way, as PSA (and many others) to the higher end have???

Moreover, to be able to diversify the product base/offerings and build a similarly successful but unique brand as PSA, using somewhat common supply chains (read: pre-established relationships) might also be a factor…not to mention other common resources as well as valuable lessons learned along the way.

The “Apple”, once again, has probably fallen close to the tree and could the new tree may one day even dwarf the parent tree…if all goes well???

Quien Sabe???..I, for one, would never know but must wonder.

I believe there is a market for quality hifi equipment that doesn’t cost a lot. Today’s youth stream music on their phones and something that introduces quality sound to them might be a hit.

@scottm Good luck with your new endeavor and show those Chi-Fi how to do it.

Is Sprout Hi-Fi a subsidiary of PS Audio or a fully separate company?

In my opinion, the Sprout100 offers the best value for the money compared to all its competition. If that same approach carries through to the rest of the refreshed product line, it will be a huge win for Scott. I also understand the desire to stand apart from PS Audio. Job well done for Scott, and here’s to continued success.

Sure do agree with you, David…I only know Scott from his hosting my wife and me to a tour one day up there in Boulder plus some responses to inquiries and some unsolicited sales communication. I found him to be a knowledgeable and sincere professional as well as quite a “worker”.

I love my Sprout 100. If this new company is for the folks who can’t afford expensive jaw dropping prices but want some quality gear this could be awesome.

There’s going to be tough competition in that product range, especially coming from China.

China has been cranking out a lot of high value and affordable HiFi products lately. Personally though, I’d much rather buy products made in the U. S. The question is, where will Sprout HiFi products be made?

@Audioholic Good point. I was thinking about companies like FIIO and even WiiM who keep upping their offerings.

I would be surprised if, for example, Sprout Hi-Fi speakers would be manufactured anywhere else than Asia.

Still better if the company itself is U. S. based, even if those products are manufactured elsewhere.
