The fact that we perceive 1 Gbit to be louder or more dynamic may also be because 1 Gbit produces a sharper or clearer sound. The 100 Mbit produces a slightly softer sound. Similar to different filter settings. That’s how it seemed to me. Maybe I should do the comparison again to see if there is a difference in sensation. I’ve changed a lot in the meantime.
Galen wrote something about data packages (100 Mbit vs. 1 Gbit) in the Inconoclast post. Maybe it behaves somewhat like a filter setting on a DAC: sharp vs. slow?
Your explanation makes sense to me, and I perceived to hear louder sound without Stack Regen because it is limited to 100 mb/s. But I heard less difference than a fuse change frankly. I am sticking with Muon only now.
The duo LHY switches with fiber optic link are good enough for my system in dealing with noise. I mentioned in Iconoclast thread that I like the sound with 10m length than with a .75m length of FO because the longer one sounded smoother and more natural. It is quite a bit better now after a month in the system. This confirmed what Galen said that digital cables, unlike analog cables, need a certain length to sound good.
Al says he will BRING a Grid Protector with. He said ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about DROPPING OFF a GP.
(But I could, LOL)
I plan to setup and leave a Bacch4Mac setup at Paul’s house. He always has perfectly chilled Diet Pepsi for me when I visit. And great popcorn! And the best Home Theatre I have ever seen! And him an his wife feed me good food! Really good!
The heck with it, I am moving in with Paul and bringing all my gear.
Any time, any place, any duration. I’m way short on the black boxes guys like you and Luca have.
I’ll repaint the spare bedroom unless you don’t mind pink. I’ll give Lisa the good news.
Thanks for the posting Paul.
I have a black Stack LN for sale. Great value for those without Ethernet filtering. Those interested, please PM me.
Hans gave an honest review on Stack Regen, and I believe it will benefit systems without other filters or switches.
Oh, mine is silver. But I do not have it anymore.
That came and went pretty quickly. I haven’t installed my second MUON Pro yet. I have been busy writing my poetry.
Hans basically said the ENO2 was better than the SmoothLAN Regenerator. And some of us believe the MUON Pro to be better than the ENO2. So basically, if you have MUON Pro, you can skip the SmoothLAN Regenerator.
Hans is not the Bible.
He might be more useful as the bible predates electricity. Very little useful audio gear information.
