I am not policing anything nor has anybody been told to shut up. Just another example of your tendency to exaggerate. You like to take even the simplest concepts like in this case the difference in gain between the two types of outputs and make it more confusing and difficult to understand than it is. This is very simple. You seem to be inclined to follow the lead of your “mentor” and turn any minor issue an owner may think they have with a PSA product and place all the blame in one direction. This is textbook stuff. An audio only preamp and an AV product with Bass Management do not operate the same.
Baloney. I use McIntosh splitters to my BHK 300s and my 900watt each subs. The difference is not discernible (other than lack of subs) without the splitter in the chain. The volume control on your subs is there to match output with your speakers.
Pot - Kettle…
Update: as a thread gets long, assumptions get made, built upon, and then the thread goes off course.
My question is/was answered way up top by Paul and some others. The output of the RCA is 6db lower. I did not know that. Sorry that I joined this forum without knowing that @dawkinsj.
The reason this surprised me is because I’ve always run my subs from RCA outs and never really heard a disparity.
Splitting the signal was a totally different subject. Paul says it’s 100% fine, and it’s exactly what happens on the inside when there’s subwoofer outs. I assume my Audioquest splitter would be “better” than whatever cheap splitter most manufacturers use on their internals.
Someone asked why I’m not using my Anthem STR… Because when I heard the DAC in the SGCD, my eyes opened a little wider. Maybe it’s the M700s, but something is just reallllllyyyy good with the PS Audio.
@dawkinsj, did I say anything incorrectly or wrong? I know I mispelled “realllllyyyy” above but that’s for emphasis. If I ask another dumb question, I politely ask that you refrain from responding.
I demo’d several DAC/preamps as well and there really was something about the SGCD that stood out to me. The Schiit Freya+ was probably second for me, but the SGCD had a depth and stage presence that really appealed to me.
I was wondering about the comparison of the Stellar Gain Cell DAC to the Schiit Freya+, thanks for sharing this.
