Stellar Range Power Regenerator

Do we know yet if all the Stellar P3 outlets are re-generated? The old P3 had 2 outlets that bypassed the re-generator.

I wonder how power sounds lol lol lol og The best chess player at PS Audio -
I’ll beat you in chess … then be ready when I visit

I like the P3 because on the odd occasion that I want to reboot my audio player or ethernet access point, I use the network control panel via the ethernet link.

My entire audio/AV system never draws more than about 120w.

Having started using Roon and with a Roon Ready audio player, I really like the facility that if you use Roon to send music to the system when it is in standby mode, Roon will wake it up and play. The audio player goes back into standby when it has not received a signal for 20 minutes.

It’s unbelievably lazy and a total joy.

Thanks for bringing that to my attention, I wasn’t aware of that fact.

Perhaps someone at PS Audio can shed some light on whether or not all the outlets will be regenerated on the P3.

The P3 has a very robust regenerator inside - one that can output 300 watts all day long, 500 watts for up to 30 seconds, and peaks of 900 watts for musical blasts. There is also a filtered output and the outlets can be switched to regenerated power or filtered.
Thus, you can have a 100% regenerated output or a combination of regenerated and filtered depending on your needs. It’s a beautiful piece of kit.

Is the new Stellar P3 actually P300(I see 300 in the pic above)? I have the older P3. It is confusing if your last comment is about the new or the old P3. Seems like you would change the name.

Thanks!

Good to know that the P3 has filtration for power hungry amps, along with regenerated power for dac’s, pre amps, and transports.

We’ve kicked around a few different name options for the new power plant. The P300 you see pictured above had its name changed to the Stellar Power Plant 3 - P3 for short.

The names of our Power Plants convey how much power you’re getting out of them. So for instance, the P12 is rated for 1200 watts continuous output, the P15 for 1500 watts, the P20 for 2000 watts. It follows then that our new 300 watt regenerator would be dubbed the P3. Perhaps you’re right that reusing the old acronym is confusing. Maybe shorthand should be something like SP3, or S3?

Paul’s comment was with regards to the new P3, for what it’s worth.

Do you know if the BHK 250 can be plugged into one of the filtered outlets of the P3 without sacrificing dynamics?

It’s likely going to be alright but you would risk a loss of dynamics if you don’t have the right power cable connected to the Stellar 3. Make sure it’s a heavy moose of a cable then you’ll be fine. It isn’t that the internal filter of the P3 will limit dynamics,
because it won’t, but it is the placing of two power cables in series that’s the threat. Just make sure to get the power cabling right and you’ll be fine.

The Music Room has posted for pre-order the Stellar P3 Power Plant. Here is the link.

Yep…the marketing stuff is cranking up now.

Looking at the specs, it seems the old P3 has a higher rated continuous load capability (and 8 outlets instead of 6). I don’t think Stellar P3 can handle what my P3 can handle.

Why are the U.K. plugs still pointing downwards? Even with quite thin power cables I have to raise my old P3 about 2 inches to be able to plug anything in. Others made the same mistake and fixed it like this.

Paul has mentioned in the past he was aware of this problem, but it’s not fixed.

Let me understand the marketing. It’s $2,200, so will be at least £2,200 in the UK. That puts it bang in the middle of two competing products, sold by my dealer (the Niagara 1000 and 5000). It is also about the last new price for the old P3. I appreciate the benefit of regeneration, I’ve used it for years and my P3 replaced a unit from the brand photographed above, but is this unit better than the old P3 and why? Bear in mind there is no trade-in in the UK. I’d like to know the improvements for an undemanding system.

Is there a simple explanation? With regard to the competitor, I read their literature and didn’t understand a word of it, but I can get a demo unit.

It does seem for Stellar system owners it should be a very good value and very effective upgrade.

Will this work well with my Moon integrated that puts out 100w per channel with my 8ohm speakers?

Pardon my ignorance, my system consist of a stellar amp and DAC connected to my IMAC and output to a powered SVS subwoofer. Is it possible to connect all that to the P3 or just the amp and dac? thanks

Is it just me, old P3 looks prettier?

There can be no doubt that the old P3 case would have cost a whole lot more to make than the new pressed steel case without the old grills. Hopefully the cost of the outside of the old unit is now being spent on the inside of the new unit. Hopefully there will be an explanation in due course.

Difficult to make a case to update from old P3 to new P3, unless you owned a Stellar set and wanted to complete the aesthetic.

When I got my P3 I was pleasantly surprised by how much was spent on the chassis alone. Good chassis is important. The new P3 looks smaller too. I like big transformers. The trend nowadays to put puny transformers into everything, they cost money. Hope there was no cut taken here in the new P3.
