Yeah, heard that. I have a second coming from Music Direct. At this time they can’t say when it will ship. Apparently Chad, Analog Productions, is holding off distribution to Music Direct and Elusive Disc until he has fulfilled all in hand pre-orders. I can wait, both copies are gifts.
Based on your recommendation I need to look this one up and give it a whirl. Just listened to Dave’s Stargazer last night. I really enjoy his earlier stuff and that with John Zorn’s Masada. I also listened to Lovano’s earlier releases as well recently, better tone and power in his playing then versus now.
I have yet to hear this release. I had planned on picking up a copy from Dave while in Chicago recently. Unfortunately missed him completely. I’ll most likely pick-up a copy when I see him in Madison in August.
The music of Moondog as covered by Nick Mazarella, Matt Ulrey, Jason Stein, Quinn Kirchner, Ryan Packard, Dave Miller, Chad McCullough, Dave Miller, and Dustin Laurenzi.
@Elk:
While not Strictly Jazz Sounds, as Sohail mentioned earlier I get “The topic has been solved” to the right of my reply just prior to posting.
As we all know the most compelling jazz is unresolved.
I unchecked the “resolved” box. This issue should be gone as a result.
Still waiting and waiting for mine
This era of Joe Henderson is worth the wait. Spinning the vinyl is always an option in this house, and 45 RPM provides for an incremental increase in exercise:
Yup, blue side screen is gone. Thank you
My apologies as I did not predict the side effects of the solved feature.
No apologies required. It got us talking about other things than jazz which is only natural.
I read about this interesting box set last week. Too rich for my blood in either format as I already have the 12 Octave Music cds released by Mack Avenue. If that concert is released outside the box (likely) I’ll pick it up!
Hope it ships soon. It’s worth the wait.
There is a cheaper bundle and believe me the 24/192 downloads are much better than the CDs (or you can give the downloads to a friend)
It still duplicates 12 cds I already have. I don’t do downloads so no advantage there. I’m okay. . . I’m learning the difficult lesson that I don’t have to have everything.
“Gershwin Live!” Sarah Vaughan, Michael Tilson Thomas, Los Angeles Philharmonic
Good recording
LPs are special!
There are 4 180g LPs in the bundle, + 12 downloads Hi-Rez (not available on LP except old was not always of good qquality) + a 60 pages book. I think the price ($150) is not exagerated. The problem with LP’s is that sometimes, they lack the bonus tracks of some CDs as LPs can’t be more than 42 minutes. Also, the matrix starts to deteriorate after around 1500 pressed LPs. I know LPs are special, I have 2000+ and for my favorites ones, I sometimes buy used as duplicates.
