Somehow this one has escaped me. Do I hear a reference to Charlie Parker?
oh for sure - the album is well named because it is a freakinâ rocket at full burn
Fans of Cecil Taylor should appreciate this live piano duo featuring Christine Wodrascka and Betty Hovette. Dynamic, dense, and intense.
Having seen Christine last night at Chicagoâs Elastic Arts, I picked up a pair of CDs to support her art. Christine performance with percussionist Michael Zerang was nothing less than incredible. She is inthe Chicago area as part of a cultural exchange known as The Bridge between Paris and Chicago sponsored by the local arts communities of each region. Christine will be performing with Les Sangliers, The Boars, at Madisonâs recording studio Audio for the Arts. The quartet features Dave Remois, Keefe Jackson, Christine Wodrascka, and Peter Orins. From what I heard Thursday night the Sunday performance will be special indeed.
As Audio for the Arts is a recording studio seating is extremely limited.
Well said. Seriously, then check out Christine Wodrasckaâ Iana, warp speed, di-lithium crystals and all. I listed it above, hopefully your system is up to the task.
This is a very bebop album and man I like it a lot. Re-listening to it last year after a hiatus I was really impressed with Donaldsonâs playing.
Will definitely check it out - but will you help me out financially if something does happen to my system?
Ha!
Proceed with caution. Iâm on to a second listen with it.
I just canât understand how it got by me. Need to fix that gap.
Released today, reissue of Calvin Keys Black Jazz album âProceed with Cautionâ on Real Gone MusicâIâm listening to the cd.
The Iana posted above is not on Tidal so here is an alteranate if anyone wishes to explore Christine Wodrascka:
Thatâs OK, Iâm not on Tidal either - and Dâune extrĂȘme Ă lâautre is on Qobuz
Also on Tidal, my bad as far as Tidal Searches:

Will get to that Iana in a bit as Iâm currently working my way through this finally (after having picked it up on Black Friday RSD)
I have a handful of the original Artists House releases and picked up the CD box set when it was released. Late Art Pepper, enjoy!
I also have these staged for a spin when I get around to it. I really enjoy this particular Art Pepper series.
Oh I love those - I donât have the box set, but I have er⊠Thurs, Fri, and Saturday I think
I have them, **** at The Village Vangusrd, individually. I am not aware of a box set release of the 4 albums. The CD Box set I referred to was the Artists House set, Promise Kept.
There is/was a 9 cd box set
yep - thats the one. 9 freakin discs!
Nine CDs, Yikes!
Iâll stick with my vinyl, thanks, but 9 CDs, hmmh!
