Miles Davis “Bootleg Series Vol. 3” Sony Blu-Spec CD2 edition, disc 2 (Thursday Miles unedited)

I was about to play one of my copies of “Miles Davis at Fillmore” which is like audio comfort food for me as it was one of the first LP sets I bought when I returned to America from Africa. . . and then realized I hadn’t played the more recent Bootleg Series of these Fillmore Shows uncut and unedited for a spell so I put on this disc. Great sound. . . even though the different instrumental orientation in the mix unnerves me a bit at times.

The upcoming Lennie Tristano set from Mosaic Records is finally available for pre-order. This seems a very interesting set. I pre-ordered.

That’s a very strong box set offering.

A fun EP from Angel Bat Dawid. Just who is she casting her gaze upon? Ancient to the Future.

Not the worst “fake stereo” record out there.

Right now
Duke Ellington “Jazz Party” Mobile Fidelity Lab gold cd.

Man this is a great session! I love each track. And killer sound!

Poor Hank! This was his last official recording and he is not his former self.

Right now
Bob Brookmeyer “Trombone Jazz Samba” Verve/Jazzplus cd

It’s cold outside but warming up inside with this cd. It also includes the album “Samba Para Dos” with Lalo Schiffrin.

Played loud and by the quality of this Tone Poet release, this recording is a late discovery and very accessible for me (I didn’t identify it as necessary for me by just short checking it online n the years before)

Such a cool guitar sound here, and overall the recording is quite nice.

Joe Williams and Dave Pell’s Prez Conference “Prez & Joe–In Celebration of Lester Young” Crescendo cd

Joe Williams is in fine voice here. This cd is definitely not a victim of “the loudness war.” I had to crank this one all the way up! This is the second cd today where I said “wow Budwig–what a bass player!”
