First time listening to this album. 1st track playing. Seems very promising!

“On Blues Modernism, the hugely successful 2012 debut outing from Snorre Kirk, the drummer got to showcase his qualities as a composer and bandleader” Music label ‘Calibrated’

Very interesting! Though released in 2018, it felt as if I were listening to something from a different era, and I mean it in the positive sense :+1:t2: :grinning:

So far I have listened to the two albums mentioned above and immediately bought the CD’s afterwards. There’s more to be explored!

Milt Jackson “Reverence and Compassion”

Picked this up randomly through Acoustic Sounds. Sounds really well mastered:

@Serhan you now have me on a Marsalis deep dive of both Classical and Jazz (thank you). Here is one with a nice sound via streaming. I’ll have to research if there are vinyl options.

Venus Jazz releases are really something. Check their recordings of the New York Trio / Bill Charlap Trio. This is one of my favorites by them:

I find it hard to get into the Venus “sound,” and I dislike their idea of a cover. I do have the Barney Wilen and Archie Shepp titles though. . . have to have that music.

Right now
“The Complete Verve Recordings of the Teddy Wilson Trio” disc 2.

Jo Jones! Just such “full” and yet concise drumming. Full of personality.

Completely agree Lonson, I remember thinking it was good when I first purchased but I definitely enjoy it more now. After seeing your post about disc 1, I realized I’d never even opened my copy of Trilogy 2! Spun it the other night and I loved it. I initially planned on listening to just the first disc and then moving on to something different. However, as cd 1 ended I immediately played disc 2.

Sorry. . . didn’t mean to derail your listening plans. I’ll be revisiting “Trilogy 2” pretty soon. These are among my favorite Corea recordigns.
