Carlos Santana/John McLaughlin “Love, Devotion and Surrender” Sony Quad SACD
Just in from cdjapan.co.jp Sounds great.
Hard to go wrong with In a Silent Way, I should pull out my MoFi Long Player for a listen.
MultiHearts for this one, having just attended a Luke Stewart Exposure Quintet live performance at the Hyde Park Jazz Festival, in the Reva and David Logan Center Penthouse. An awesome performance. Any opportunity to hear this quintet should not be missed. The Exposure quintet features Luke Stewart, Jim Baker, Ed Wilkerson, Ken Vandermark, and Avreeayl Ra.
On the fence on this upcoming jazz festival:
Edit:
Need I mention Friday night offers a killer line-up!
More Anthony Braxton on this somewhat rare 1975 Emanem LP release. A first recorded meeting of Anthony Braxton and Derek Bailey, recorded in 1974 at London’s Wigmore Hall. Two different free styles pair up with Bailey’s atonal percussive guitar technique, and Braxton’s more tonal (for Braxton at least) approach.
An exceptional Woody Shaw release, and fine sounding on LP as well.
EDIT:
As my LP is not handy I opted to stream on my laptop, to be honest I had forgotten how exceptional this release is!
