A fine follow-up listen to Woody Shaw’s Blackstone Legacy, the initial Weather Report release.
Keith Jarrett’Gary Peacock/Jack DeJohnette “After the Fall” ECM 2 cd set, disc 2
A concert after Jarrett’s first battle with chronic fatigue. An excellent show!
Revisiting this new SHM-SACD from Japan. . . wow, this sounds good.
It’s the “over-dubbed” version and is probably the best I’ve ever heard this. Beautiful lp facsimile gatefold packaging as well. Part of the Acoustic Sound SACD series.
The album “Dial ‘S’ for Sonny” from “The Complete Sonny Clark Blue Note Sessions” Mosaic box set, disc 1
This and the companion LP are both exceptional!
A fine Mosaic box set, and for those not willing to buy in to the Mosaic CD box set the Sonny Clark Dial S for Sonny LPs are worth seeking out.
Not to take anything away from Anthony, Thurman or Ray, but I am really digging John Lindberg’s bass on Anthony Braxton’s Seven Compositions 1978.
Jason Palmer “Songbook”
Jason Palmer: trumpet; Greg Osby: alto saxophone; Ravi Coltrane: tenor saxophone; Warren Wolf: vibes; Leo Genovese: Fender Rhodes, piano; Matt Brewer: bass; Tommy Crane: drums.
German Verve 5 LP box set, Stan Getz The Bossa Nova Years, the first LP is on the VPI Prime. The Martin Denny Latin Village spin prompted this listen.
Saw Aurora Nealand at the Hyde Park Jazz Festival this past weekend, as well as Instigation Festival. She seemed a bit off to these ears, which was a bit of a surprise.
