Strictly Jazz Sounds (Part 2)

Excellent - I haven’t listened to this is a while, thanks for the reminder.

Walt Dickerson Impressions of a Patch of Blue, based loosely on Jerry Goldsmith’s soundtrack to a Sidney Poitier film. Featuring a restrained, considering what he was doing with the Arkestra in 1965, featuring sideman Sun Ra on piano, harpsichord, and celeste. Nice listen, but I do prefer this SteepleChase LP:

It’s Tuesday. On Tuesdays, Thursdays and weekends, Sonny Rollins is my favorite tenor player.

Going out on a limb there, when I consider favored tenor players many come to mind, not just any one individual. However, Sonny Rollins is on the list, as is Tenor Madness.

Playing one of my favorites right now, and he might just say Sonny is his favorite.

Finishing up this fine box set with disc 6/6, Miles Davis The Cellar Door Sessions 1970, once again adding John McLaughlin. They are killin’ it on the 3rd track Inamorata. Excuse me as I turn it UP!

I’ve never really heard a great sounding redbook CD of Oscar Peterson’s We Take Requests. They all sound off to me. Until now. I have the Japanese SHM-CD cat# UCGU-9071 and that sounds better than redbook versions. Today I listened to the new Japanese Acoustic Sounds series SHM-SACD and it blows away the former. It’s like having Oscar and the boys in the living room. I like it better than the hi-res version on Qobuz too. This Japanese series is hard to beat for sound. I know @lonson and I keep saying it, but it’s true. Enjoy!
