My LP copy is too noisy! âSound Structureâ track has horrendous static noise and popping.
Lee Wiley With Billy Butterfield And His Orchestra âA Touch Of The Bluesâ RCA Victor Japan 24bit K2 remastered lp facsimile cd.
Now, I think I prefer the darker, richer sound of young Lee Wiley, BUT this album is amazing. Butterfield and the arrangements and Orchestra make a divine pocket for Lee to fit in, and her expressive nature has matured so gracefully, and that vibrato has crystalizedâshe reminds me of Bechet in having a strong personal vibrato signature.
There are great tunes chosen here as well. Iâve always loved the Louis Armstrong tune âSomeday Youâll be Sorryâ and she does a great rendition of the Jack Teagarden signature tune âA Hundred Years from Today.â
And this disc really sounds great. Sounds best with the phase reversed on my DAC.
Mineâs quiet, having two copies doesnât hurt either. Thx
Horace Tapscottâs Pan-Afrikan Peoples Arkestra Live at I.U.C.C 6/24/78.
The set kicks off with Jitterbug Waltz, and then moves on to a spirited Noissesprahs. Sonics are significantly better here than the Live at I.U.C.C. 11/26/78 double CD.
Greg Spero âThe Chicago Experimentâ
Some cool stuff.
Greg Spero (piano)
Makaya McCraven (drums)
Marquis Hill (trumpet)
Joel Ross (vibraphone)
Jeff Parker (guitar)
Darryl Jones (bass)
Irvin Pierce (tenor sax)
Seems we are both in a Horace Tapscott mood today. The Live at I.U.C.C. series is FAB BTW!
Follow-up to Horace Tapscottâs Live at I.U. C.C., Bush Fire, Louis Moholo, Pule Pheto, Gibo Pheto, Barry Guy, and Evan Parker.
Great album with wonderful sound quality.
