This December 2024 Fondamenta release, Miles Davis Quintet The Complete Live in Paris 1960 Vol. 1, as part of their ongoing Lost Recordings series is an easy recommendation. Nice to hear Sonny Stitt on the tenor, bringing a full bluesy vibe to the Quintet’s sound. The remainder of the quintet carries over from the Kind of Blue session.
Sonically this is excellent, especially for a 1960 Live Broadcast recording. The top end offers excellent drum kit and cymbal sound, Miles Harmon muted trumpet has just the right amount of bite. The album title, Vol. 1 implies additional releases may be forthcoming. Looking forward to them.
