Strictly Jazz Sounds (Part 3)

So perfect, I listened to this 1975 recording a couple of days ago. So sublime.

Yes another fine TALT Band release. Road Time holds up nicely as well.

I am not a fan but it was in my discovery playlist, Timing with Orchestra sound like there’s delay

As Lonson has indicated nice sound on Abdullah Ibrahim 3. The music is none too shabby either.

Revisiting this recent set from Dave Rempis…

A compilation of later Ellington with no details about venues or dates. Early digital edgy sound but great performances!

Duke Ellington “Jump for Joy” Jazz Life cd

It’s jazz, but it doesn’t feel academic. It feels lived-in, reflective, and human. That’s a combination I tend to respond to very strongly.

Pianist Marta Warelis is a welcome addition to the Trio The Outskirts with Dave Rempis, Ingebright Haker-Flaten and Frank Rosaly.

Special request from my wife after a morning row, Weather Report Tale Spinnin’. We’re off for an Ice Age Trail segment hike.

Just released live set from Marta Warelis…great lineup…

Marta Warelis - piano, synthesizer, compositions
Ben LaMar Gay - trumpet, electronics
Ab Baars - clarinet, tenor saxophone
Karen Ng - clarinet, alto saxophone
Ingebrigt Håker Flaten - double bass
Frank Rosaly - drums, gongs

This album was recorded as a true guitar conversation rather than a flashy “guitar summit.” Critics and reviewers consistently emphasized the mutual respect and musical chemistry between the two players.

Cornelia Nillson “Where do You Go?” Sundance cd by the lovely Danish jazz drummer.

Cornelia Nilsson - Drums
Daniel Fracnk - Bass
Aaron Parks - Piano
Gabor Bolla - Tenor saxophone

Thanks! Never listened to Cornelia Nilsson or even heard of her before. She in good company on this album. I’ll be enjoying this one.

Boy does that bring back memories, now I need to dig out my copy and give it a listen.
