Strictly Jazz Sounds (Part 3)

Pat Metheny - Rejoicing!

This album is one of the first ones to get me into Jazz as a young’in - I could listen to his version of Lonely Woman by Horace Silver every single day

Charlie is clearly saying “Make sure you have some sunscreen on those gams - I’m blinded!”

Live at Joe’s Pub — Lizzy & The Triggermen

Proof that swing is still alive and kicking. Great songs, terrific musicianship, and enough energy to make you wish you’d been in the room that night.

Ticks have been out in force so typically wearing long pants.

Rejoicing! is a wonderful album both sonically and performance.

Listening as I type this.

Terrific trio, its a shame they haven’t released any new material in quite a while.

One of the best releases of 2025…

Ches Smith - Drums, vibes, electronics
Mary Halvorson - Guitar (right channel)
Liberty Ellman - Guitar (left channel)
Nick Dunston - Bass, electronics

The amazing saxophonist Nicole McCabe’s new Dolphin Hyperspace album - ‘Echolocation’.

Mary’s style has changed considerably from what is offered on Pool School. As a trio this is swell.

A 2019 effort that holds up rather nicely, Combobulated. Love the title.

In the queue.

This is hard-panned stereo, not “mono” as Qobuz has it coded, but it sounds good and definitely swings.

Drums - Soojin Suh
Double Bass - Young Hoo Kim
Piano - Jaehun Kang

Now have to wait till it is available on Qobuz!

Never mind. It is available and queued up. Thanks for posting!

Now Playing: Night Blooms — Jeff Goldblum & The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra

One of the things I enjoy most about Jeff Goldblum’s musical projects is that they never lose sight of the fact that jazz can be fun. Wonderful musicianship, timeless songs, and an infectious sense of playfulness throughout. A perfect soundtrack for a relaxing evening.
Melody Gardot’s “Misty” alone is worth the trip.

“Jazz with a smile” feels very much like the Jeff Goldblum musical experience.

Outstanding trio effort, with Phil Haynes on drums and Drew Gress on bass.
