A bit of a sonic reprieve after pulling weeds. Thinking the temperature was lower, a breeze had developed and why not pull weeds? Crazy as the humidity is high, and who pulls weeds at 1:00 pm? At least the thistle and nettles have been properly removed. I digress.

Sonny Red out of the Blue a Blue Note Tone Poet. This happens to be the best Sonny Red I have in my collection. Sonny can be rather hit or miss, this is HIT!

Should be good for a listen later tonight, assuming I’m in the mood for some Butcher.

Playing it safe with Search for the New Land, an exceptional Lee Morgan LP, and what a line-up. Snuck in some John Butcher/Bill Frisell, but switched over to Lee.

Love the DS 003 ! I built the Preamp but the gain block is messed up. Listening to it “passively” at the output of the reverse RIAA filter. With 70mV output and two daisy chained preamps (spl & Black Ice F22 Integrated w/ KT170’s.

I can never go back to MC or MM. EVER ! Ron Carter - Golden Striker

Dollar Brand, aka Abdullah Ibrahim, African Space Program, this LP being a Japanese second pressing circa 1977. Originally an Enja 1974 release. This ensemble features Roy Brooks, Cecil McBee, Hamiett Bluiett, John Stubblefield, Roland Alexander, Sonny Fortune, Carlos Ward, Kiani Zawadi, Cecil Bridgewater, Charles Sullivan and Enrico Rava. An excellent performance, only held back by the limitations of the Enja recording, has a solid state graininess sonic character. Not a sonic stunner, but worthy for the performance alone. Those into the Cape Town sound will surely be pleased with this one.
