Something that has been on my mind since bumping into Julia Miller and Elbio Barilari at Chicago’s Elastic Arts in December 2023. They mentioned
Sam Records’ Fred Thomas had just signed a contract to release both Sun Ra Transition label recording on LP. Most exciting!
Well that day has come, as a limited production run, 500 LPs of each, is now available on the Sam Records website. Clearly targeting the Sun Ra enthusiasts, as pricing is rather high at E110 (euro) each. Available only from Sam Records France, so one has to contend with over seas shipping as well. As I type this approximately 40% of the available pressings have been spoken for.

As I type this, 2/1/25 at 12:35 CST, Vol #1 has sold out, and 106 copies of Vol #2 remain. Incredible.

Just finished listening to [ahmed] Giant Beauty the third CD from this 5 CD box set, Bossa Nova. Its intensity comes a cross as a Bossa Nova barreling down on a run away freight train.
