I cannot speak any more highly about this recording.

There’s an accompanying multimedia component as well.

Streaming Flavio Piras as I type this.

EDIT:

This is an intriguing set. I am enjoying the playfulness of Composition No.4 Km 6528.

That is a great album. I do not have the JVC XRCD, one I missed out on. I did pick up a copy of the Analog Productions 2022 LP reissue, which sounds great! The 2016 Japanese SHM-CD reissue is also very nice, but my AP vinyl edges it out.

Listening to a pre-release CD on the Aerophonic Records label, with an official release date of December 26, 2025. Dave Rempis Dial Up vith vibraphonist Adam Adassiewicz and percussionist Chris Corsano. On the opener Cutup, Jason calls the listener to attention what initially seems to be a standard blues, but morphs into something quite different.

Mono recording?

The Analog Productions LP I have is Stereo. As far as the SHM-CD I believe it also is stereo, but it has been a while since I listened to the CD.

Picked up this Unknown Purposes CD as well as Frode Gjerstad’s Mir from Jon Rune Strom Friday night as Jon, Tollef Ostvang, Josh Berman, and Keefe Jackson were playing a BlueStem Jazz sponsored tour in Madison.

  1. Miles’ rhythm section for most of the recording. Village Blues is particularly striking, the only cut with McCoy Tyner/Steve Davis/Elvin Jones.

Nice to hear Art Blakey with Barney Wilen, Bobby Timmons, Jymie Merritt, and Lee Morgan on my 1965 mono Fontana Les Liaisons Dangegeruses. Pianist Duke Jordan replaces Timmons in on Prelude in Blue.

As usual, our jazz guru, @lonson was right. The CD sounds pretty good and the playing is engaging.
I especially like Charles Rouse’ melodic playing.

Finishing up streaming it as I type this. Nice set, with good sound typical of a live 1965 date. Performance is typical for mid-60’s Monk, meaning its pretty darn good.

Wadada Leo Smith and Orange Wave Electric Fire Illuminations. Orange Wave Electric being Melvin Gibbs, Bill Laswell, Pheeroan akLaff, HardEdge (Velibor Pedevski), Brandon Ross, Lamar Smith, Nels Cline, and Mauro Refesco. Reminiscent of Bill Laswell’s early Material projects.

That’s a really good album. Seems like a continuation of what WLS did on ‘Yo Miles’ (and a couple of others I cant remember). Very cool.
