Some early John Coltrane and Donald Byrd on this rather fine Red Garland Quintet LP, Soul Junction.

The aforementioned LP has been claimed and shipped recently.

I always shy away from Charlie Parker recordings. The playing is always engaging and superb, but the quality of the recordings is so-so or just plain bad. Any recommendations for good sounding CP recordings? I’d like to add a few to my CD collection. LP-only and Qobuz recommendations also welcome though

I know I put this up before. But sue me, it’s so damn good. And Roy Eldridge is well, Little Jazz.
If I may do a Fremer, music:11, sound: 10.
Harlem Nocturne is outa this world.

2008, Roy Hargrove at his apogee. Great playing, the antidote for too much Christmas music here.

I listened to this earlier today (Japanese SHM-CD), a really good one from Roy.

I want to like Gershwin , but after performing Rhapsody in Blue dozens of times I would like to strangle him.

Regardless, Joni Mitchell’s performance of Summertime at the Kennedy Honors last year was the best I’ve heard, absolutely incredible.
