Sunlight: Sound Impressions

You do things other than participate in the forum? Where do you find the time?

Women, in general, seem to have better hearing than men. Don’t know why, but I’ve heard the pros say that for half a century. They’re better looking, too.

Why didnt someone tell me that this could be such an improvement over the world famous and extremely enjoyable Windom?
Holy crapoly this is good from the first hit.

I enjoy their video plus they said the proceeds from their YouTube is donated to charity.
Indeed, fast forward sometimes is needed.

A nice gesture. While it is unlikely they make much, small donations add up. I like Amazon Smile for the same reason.

so after some time now with new sunshine OS in place, i hear some good things for certain. at first just very bright and edgy in my system. now it seems to have settled in. or perhaps my ears have accomodated? or both? detailed. increased bass “power” . separation of instruments in a big soundstage is very good. even with larger ensemble. certainly more forward than windom. so all in all im happy and its a keeper.

If you want to know how good Sunlight can sound with quad rate, use this recording in quad rate DSD as reference and see. The sound is so unbelievable real and I have never heard the DS sounded better.

I’m love to hear Jazz at the Pawnshop on it.

Jazz at the Pawn Shop is available on NativeDSD’s site

While I don’t have the quad rate of Jazz at the Pawnshop, I do have the double rate version. Just tried it and Wow, never heard it sounding so clear and real before. But with this recording, it’s been awhile since I played it, so it’s not just Sunlight, but many other changes like the Transformer mod, and cables, etc… With the recordings I am familiar with Windom, the difference with Sunlight is not subtle, Sunlight has far superior clarity.

But, I don’t have a DS Sr to listen to it on, let alone one with the Sunlight FW. but I do have Pawnshop.

I think all of your eleven posts in this forum had nothing to do with the subject, sound impressions of sunlight. Now you even say you do not have a ds. Could you please contribute to the subject or start polluting another forum?

I was replying to what some else was saying. Therefore, if that was then off topic, so would my reply. First address them for taking the conversation off course, not me. I’m merely follows the flow of the conversation.

If you don’t have a DS, you should make it a priority to get one. It is one of the most musical DACs on the market. And you’re missing out on all the fun with these upgrades.

Installed the Sunlight (DSJ) on day 1, and impressed with the improvements.

Congratulations to the team!

Have one question to the society. Anyone can help to confirm that the DSJ is lack the power to decode 4X DSD?

Thanks!

The DSJ has the same computer power and almost identical software to the DS. The DS Jr does quad rate fine over I2S (And displays DSD256 when doing so.) (Listening to quad rate right now.)

I need to figure out why I cannot play DSD256 using JRiver.
