Surge Protection (UK]

Hi, I live in the UK and I’m about to get my electrician in to tidy up my consumer unit (fuse box for the house) and I’m taking the opportunity to move my hifi mains supply into its own fuse box (it’s already a dedicated circuit but the fuse is within the main consumer unit).

Apparently the new regs in the UK require that a fuse box is fitted with surge protection, although I can decline if I wish.

Does anyone have a view on whether the surge protection in a consumer unit will have a negative impact on sound quality for an audio system?

Many thanks, Mike.

I can’t imagine it would be harmful since most surge protection is in parallel with the line, as opposed to series.
