System Photos!

Been doing some selling and trading lately. Current setup is KEF R3’s. Not near enough bass/sub bass in my space. Lot’s of moving around to get the midbass supported properly as there is a null there.

Ended up getting a pair of REL S812’s and that improved things dramatically. The KEF’s are an interim speaker, but I wanted to have the foundation set and the REL’s definitely do that well.

Doing a lot of placement trials got me this response from seated position:

Last photo with some traps/full range absorbers I pulled from the theater room got me this response:

What a fun winter so far.

That is a handsome set-up.

It may have been a minute since I posted mine, and it changes from time to time. Here are the main components right now, with about half of the speakers visible. No special rack - just repurposed some old bookshelves of my wife’s. I may try my hand at building something like Timber Nation’s offerings at some point. This whole thing sits on a concrete slab, so what little isolation I need at the turntable is from some Black Diamond Racing carbon fiber pucks under the VPI inverted cone feet. The number tags at the source components are a concession to the lack of labels on the SGCD remote.

PS Audio P3, Ultimate Outlet, Juice Bar
PS Audio M700s
PS Audio SGCD
Channel Islands Audio PEQ1-MkII phono section w AC-15 MkII power supply
Node 2i
NuPrime CDT8-Pro transport
Marantz SACD 30n
VPI Aries Scout w Ortofon 2M Bronze
An old Sony Minidisc deck
Focal Elear 'phones
Magnepan .7s w Hsu VTF2-MkII sub

Waiting in the wings to be installed when the PST arrives is an Aurender N100H. It will replace the Node and the PST will replace the Marantz and the NuPrime.

Great idea. I have just 3 components connected to my SGCD (FM-tuner, iPad, and CD player) that I can remember the #s, but I did make a laminated handout for my wife—with complete button by button instructions with photos—consequently she doesn’t use the system—except to turn down the volume

Very nice.

Mine would be a little simpler if I didn’t have the Node plugged in to both analog and digital inputs (hence the two tags on top of it), but I wanted to be able to compare its DAC with the SGCD. But there are still enough different sources that I’d get confused even if the Node was only one of them.

Near-utter simplicity awaits, though, when the PST and Aurender are inserted. The Aurender lacks an internal DAC, so its single output will replace both of the Node’s connections, and the PST will, I hope, end up replacing both the Marantz and the NuPrime.

Thanks!

Didn’t you mention that your wife is an Audiologist? Of course she wants to turn the volume down!

Think what a world opens up for this kid , welcome to our world :slightly_smiling_face: :kissing_heart:

Looks like something I would have tried to do as a kid.

He’s got the right idea, open baffles non resonant great bass from
those drivers…way to go young fella!!

I always did like real wood speaker enclosures.

No system update, just wanted to share a more focused shot with correct exposure and not to mention a tidied up space.
Wondering if the glassed marble might reflect too harshly? Not neurotic, not even explicitly noticed, just wondering.

Not sure if heavy jugs of water over the amplifier chassis count as tweaks or decor. I’m observing if different mineral constitutions in the jugs over time start showing effects from the flux, right over the 650VA toroids. No basis, I’m crazy.
Am I joking? Maybe. Not sure…

Yeah, but is that distilled water?

It’s definitely not. It’s well water. Best water I’ve had.
Now, magnetizing water is a very controversial topic, it’s fascinating there’s actually Chinese research into it with rats. They still aren’t telling us what the hell is magnetized water as per structure changes. I guess it’s not applicable to varying fields anyway, even if it had merit. So not gonna drink these.
Anyway, the possible mineral interactions aside they’re meant to absorb some of the toroid resonance as it projects well into the room and starts to annoy me at times of hyperacusis.

He got it all figured out! Real wood frame, 4” drivers, open design for better soundstage.

I bet those are not EUR 3000!

Is Mickey Mouse visiting? I see his hand on the chair closest to the left speaker. If so, tell him I said hi, it’s been a long time.

🪤 :innocent:

Oh it’s not Mickey. Never really been close with that feller.
That’s Helge, the musing moose, noddin’ round here all the time.

from Denmark - Hi Helge

I’m far too clumsy to be in the same room as a HiFi with jugs of water on top of it - at some point, with certainty, one of those amps would be getting a shower
