Merry Christmas

Loving everyone’s latest acquisitions and updates. Hope you all are thoroughly enjoying those choices.

Here’s an image in the category of “what’s wrong with this picture”. Fear not. I dove into the deep end with Rega’s latest analog rig soon to replace my much loved RP10 TT with tweaks. The Naia coupled with my Aura phono stage and Aphelion 2 cartridge should be quite mental when it arrives in about a week or so. Christmas is definitely coming early for me this year.

That is Totally Cool! Congrats!!!
(If you can, turn the overhead light 90 degrees clockwise and retake picture 2. I’d like a better look at the tonearm that is obscured by the shine)

Al please note that’s my RP10 about to be replaced by the Naia. When the new TT arrives I will take many high quality pics for sure.

More pics of the bedroom system… Now sporting my father’s vintage Kenwood GE-770B graphic EQ (just for show, not in the signal chain) and my trusty Emotiva XPA-2 Gen 2 amp for some real power to the 901 V’s, a solid 300+ watts per channel.

Thanks!

Yeah, sitting there listening to the system and looking at that old EQ of dad’s, it brings back some great memories.

Latest addition to the system (and a fantastic early Christmas present to myself)! Very early days (as in an hour or so) but I think the Rega Naia, Aphelion2 and Aura preamp are a world beater at this “reasonable?” price point. Nothing specifically stands out which I usually take as a real long term keeper. Detail, sure amazingly tight bass, yes. This combo does everything I could want (never say forever). Loving it and will report back as I absorb this massive upgrade to the analog rig. I think I’m finally challenging the excellent digital front end (Jay’s Audio CDT3-3 into the Mola Mola Tambaqui with a silly $1.4k HDMI cable between).

That seems Naiaice. My RP10 impressed the heck out of me. I imagine that is a fine step up!
How about a Picture of the motor control box?

Very similar to RP10/P10 with updated casework. Not sure about circuit changes but spins right up to either 33.33 or 45rpm right quick.

Still need to check speed accuracy and variation. Just enjoying the tunes for now.

Best looking speed accuracy and wow & flutter I’ve seen with any analog rig I’ve owned. Very pleased.

Listening to Tom Waits “Small Change” and it’s so magnificent I’m speechless!

Interestingly Rega had the speed set just a bit too fast at about 33.58 rpm. No idea why. Easily adjusted and checked with RPM app.

Quite the minimalist structure, such a counterpoint to the monstrosities in the high end. I almost could go that way if only I played more vinyl to justify the price and effort. I am surprised the phono pre has variable loading. Rega doesn’t like adjustable settings.

Coincidentally, at this moment I am swapping out my vinyl rack, a SolidSteel 5.5, for a slightly newer version I have. The newer one is slightly larger which allows me to use some maple cutting boards I picked up cheap at Boos outlet store a couple of weeks ago. Should be better than laminate covered MDF ones that came with the rack.

Clutter is my life …

What are the medals for/What did you win?

Curiously yours.

Congratulations. Looks spectacular and I bet it sounds that way too.

Actually, the only medal is from VPI. A couple of years back they had a “contest” at AXPONA where you had to find all the turntables they had on display in the show. I think it was 10. You had to get a stamp in each room. There was supposed to be a “prize” at the end, drawn randomly from those who completed their journey, but that got forgotten or delayed beyond my time there.

The rest of the lanyards are from AXPONA and a benefit concert at The Ark in Ann Arbor this past September. Vienna Teng performed! (Tyeing in with another thread here)

Thanks for noticing!
