Wow…….

What’s your distance between speakers ? Do you get a big soundstage with that position ? Love your speakers!

Are the boxes in the corners (with the plants on them) the SVS subwoofers? If so, why are they red, was it a custom finish?

wow great set up

Approximately 8’ between speakers when I have them in ‘protection’ placement. I have a rather tight space and don’t like the right speaker residing in a traffic lane. When I am going to seriously listen for a spell I move them out another 18". Soundstage is more intimate with them closer. Wider sends the soundstage outside the walls, taller and deeper. Great separation in both positions but better placement wider. Seating is approx. 9’ away.

Thanks for the kind words! I continue to be enamored with these speakers. They rise to the challenge with every upgrade I’ve thrown their way. There may be one Lawrence Audio dealer left in all the US and it’s a shame.

Doing some extended listening tonight!

System Update - Just added (6) GIK 242 w/ scatter plates for first reflections.

Nice… Please describe your speakers. Is that a BD-Oris or BD-Orphean? I assume not an Orphean since you have an extra tweeter. Curious about the base horn also…

Update… Oris-150’s online!

Impressions since adding them?

@jamesh - You have to be careful adding room treatments. I was afraid I might deaden the room and that is not the case at all. The room is very lively and it gets rid of a fuzz so to speak. The low end is very tight and it just is so sweet. I am adding (2) 4ft X 2ft panels in the window well (4in) (drawing below) and the same on the back wall. I have very complex geometry so it is very tricky. I have measured a few times… I’m also adding (2) 4ft tri traps w/ diffusors in the archway behind me… here is some drawings of the room and treatments mounting. I have fabricated the tri trap mounting hardware. The ceiling cloud came out really sweet. You have to transfer the 242 mounting eylets to the ceiling perfect to accept the small “S” hook. Any lateral error is translated to height error and the cloud looks like lower in one spot than another… did it during lunch so for a quick install it came out int. I did it during Judge Judy where my wife would not see me mounting them so she would snap after the fact not during the install… she saw it after and liked it… dodged that bullet.

The Iconoclast cabling is responsible for the amazing sound stage that just keeps getting better. Galen is the man!

Sprayed them grey - used my dremel tool to create the slot for the tri-trap mounts.

Good call with the scatter plates. I suspect it would be over damped without them.

Looking really, really good Richard - I just wish your drawings were a bit more precise

@brett66 - OK, I’m an engineer geek! I really took my time thinking about this set up. The complex geometry was very difficult to work… same as everyone has to deal with rooms… treatments are worth the money…

Nah, ya don’t say (said in my best North Dakota) - look forward to your listening impressions as time progresses

@brett66 - yeah, right off nice; however, only a day into it so yeah… I owe you some feedback after a lot of different types of music…

What is a scatter plate? With the recent discussion on cats I’m wondering if it’s a feline deterrent.

@Brodric - a diffusor; you can buy just the absorber or add a scatter plate and Brett is right… I added the scatter plate for the reason he mentioned. I have a pair of isothermal bass traps w/ built in diffusors in the front wall corners and sometimes you can deaden a room adding too many room treatments. First reflection absorber w/ diffusor is typical. I mathematically calculated the first reflection points on the wall and made sure the treatments covered…

Two thumbs up for GIK products. Economical and they work.
