Yes, we have it working! It’s playing Tidal, works great. The only issue now is we can’t play anything higher than 96kHz. Once we solve those problems we should be good to go.
Great news Paul! How does TIDAL sound in Music Room 1 via the Bridge 2?

Are DSF files working, or do they skip as well?

I presume RoonLabs is aware and hope they are working with your team to sort these issues ?
DAVE1210 said Great news Paul! How does TIDAL sound in Music Room 1 via the Bridge 2?I haven't played much with Tidal - sounds just fine though. The thing about it is this, you hardly know the tracks aren't just in your library. The way the interface works it's as if your library just got a lot bigger - by a big amount. We have a premium Tidal membership so we're streaming at CD quality, and it's just like they were there on your hard drive.
The thing is, I don’t have any way to compare one vs. the other. When I have more time and when it’s finished, we can compare known tracks I’ve ripped to Tidal stored ones.

Oh goodness yes. They’re in the thick of it with us.

Haven’t yet tried DSF. We just got it working, been hectic. I am waiting for them to fix the other issues with higher rez and I suppose because DSF are a lot higher bandwidth than 96kHz I guessed they don’t work either, but don’t know.

Paul,
When we get the new firmware for this awesome upgrade, will it only be for Roon or will there be other audio enhancements as well?
Tons of other enhancements. It’ll be called Torreys after Torreys Peak in Colorado.
We should have a nice laundry list available including…well, for the moment I have to be coy. Can I say it’ll be the biggest enhancement, set of new features that we’ve ever had?
Can’t wait to tell you all that we’ve planned.
And no, I don’t yet have a date for Torreys.
Amazing! I wish I could double thumbs up this!

Hi Paul
Firstly, I have recently purchased a Directstream DAC and NuWave Phono and have been blown away by both products!
I am currently running Roon via USB through a MAC mini and am pleased to hear that you’re now close to being able to run Roon through the Bridge. Before I invest in a Bridge II please could you confirm this is all I need to be able to run Roon through the DirectStream DAC when your work is done? Many thanks
Steve
Thanks Steve and glad you’re happy! You will need to keep the Mac Mini with the Roon server on it if you go with the Bridge II. You just won’t connect over USB anymore and the Mac Mini can be anywhere in the house you want.

Hmmm...the possibilities!! I really hope this works as intended. Hearing about skipping makes me nervous given some of the issues I had with Bridge II in the past. The good thing is we have really smart people from both companies working on this. And I have confidence they will deliver!
Welcome to the forum musicman!

There’s already a dealer on Audiogon advertising the DirectStream DAC with the “latest Torreys software”. Jumping the gun perhaps?
Paul, I haven’t seen this mentioned but will Torreys be an alternative to the UPnP version? That is, you either run with Roon or DLNA/UPnP? Not even sure if this is a relevant question but there may be a use case for being able to access the Bridge II using RAAT or UPnP.

UPnP is still enabled so customers who want to keep doing what they're doing with UPnP won't even notice a change in the Bridge. If you're running a Roon server already, all of a sudden you'll see the Bridge II pop up as one of the devices you can play to in Roon.
Torreys will be the biggest update we’ve ever had. Ted’s redesigned much of the FPGA code, lowered jitter even further, and knocked it out of the park sonically. More than that, Torreys will permit, for the first time, native DSD over USB. I know that’s a big deal to a lot of people (though DoP has never been an issue for me). There’s lots more coming down the pike.
Torreys will be available in two versions, one for DS the other for Junior. Both benefit tremendously.
