THE TEN BEST CD OR MUSIC DOWNLOADS with the best quality

+1 Very enjoyable. Paper Airplane is available in 96/24, although I have not really compared it to the CD version.

Great post, James!

Thanks y’all: I am looking forward to more lists, giving direction for future purchases!

I suggest browsing through This Thread. There are many good suggestions here, based more on musical value (which ultimately matters most) but with plenty of comments on sound quality as well. Lonson’s taste in particular is both excellent and eclectic.

I second what ‘audiophile’ recommended: http://www.soundliaison.com/

This is extremely well recorded/produced music. I recommend the “Sound Liaison Sampler” to get started, but any of the nine studio recordings listed on the site are excellent.

Note: Because all but one of the recordings were originally produced in PCM, the folks at Sound Liaison recommend downloading the PCM versions over the DSD versions (therefore there is no conversion whatsoever - simply one to one copies of the masters). I have downloaded several of the ‘albums’ in 24/96, and they sound absolutely fantastic. The newest release titled “Impromptu” was in fact mastered direct to DSD…I am downloading that tonight!

I totally recommend getting the 2015 remastered Led Zeppelin Deluxe cd edition discs and the accompanying 24/96 downloads available at super high res…stay clear of hdtracks I have had terrible 24/192 dl from them and I think they are just converting pcm…But I have purchased over 100 albums from Acoustic Sounds super high res with zero complaints …the Zeppelin releases are Directly From Jimmy Page Remastered in Studio and sound fantastic especially the Companion disc’s Live performances

Elk said This label does have some nice recordings.

I have not heard this one, but it is fun to learn it sounds good. Both the DSD and PCM ADCs used are relatively modest. A great example of how it is the engineer and setup that really matters, not the equipment or format.

Is there such a difference in ADC’s, can one really hear a difference?

Yes. Just like DACs.

Rare music, excellent performances, fantastic sound, usually found cheap! Newly arranged and performed music of a musical Ellington wrote that was never produced.

beefalo said I will check her out. I have said before it's all about the quality I will learn to like it if it is recorded well. I have been listening to a sacd of best vocals ever. It's red and black. All I can say is wow. One track has James tailor whistling and singing The man was in my office I swear I know what cologne he wears I swear Lol. The whole disk is amazing even JAW dropping. Not my music but I played the disk three times in a row. And no blues man so not cool. Al.
The sacd you refer to is called "The World's Greatest Audiophile Vocal Recordings" from Chesky. It is a fantastic cd and one of my references for testing system playback quality. Just so you know, though, that isn't James Taylor singing and whistling on track two -- it's actually his brother, Livingston Taylor. Superb sound quality on this disc.

Another great disc for sound quality is Herbie Hancock’s “Possibilities.” Wonderful music and excellent sound quality.

tony22 said I hear tell that "Satchmo Plays King Oliver" is going to be re-released in vinyl. Cannot wait for that one!
My most listened too Satchmo is the one with Oscar Peterson;

Yes, that’s a great one. My favorite one though. . . well there are so many. I am a big Louis fan, and I share a birthday with him. . .(and Obama and Billy Bob Thornton!) . . . . I have so many favorites. The King Oliver one. . . not so much. Ones I play most often:

and (the cd reissue of this that is expanded to include all the material):

and this one (awesome Teagarden on here!):

I think all three of these sound really good, but they are not audiophile material.
