Edgar got on touch but I had messed up my Mac mini good and proper with the ChatGPT folly. All my fault! So, weāll have to sort another mutually convenient time to overcome the residual issues after re-downloading the Mac OS.
At the moment I canāt stream anything from my Mac mini to my DSD Mk2 via BACCH4Mac, but I dusted off my old Mano streamer and it is way better than playing direct from Roon on the Mac mini to the DSD mk2! The BACCH4Mac forgives many of the limitations of streaming from the Mac mini.
It appears this (BACCH-Stratos) is a Mac application that the BACCH4Mac users will have the option of enjoying. It doesnāt appear BACCH-SP owners (like myself) will be as fortunate. Iāve sent a message to Theoretica to see if BACCH-SP will have this module offered in the future. Iām doubting it but had to ask. Iāll share anything I hear back.
My interest in BACCH is limited to two channel. But I did hear a demo of this at Axpona last year. Edgar made two wonderful desktop speakers and a nice sub that, used in conjunction with this software does a very convincing job of multi-channel audio with just two speakers. Very convincing indeed. I may buy it, just to have it. Butā¦ā¦.
āBACCH-Stratos will also be available as an optional module for all BACCH-SP Mk III processors in the first half of 2026. The standard price will likewise be $3,000. BACCH-SP oweners may, however, pre-order the module now at the inaugural promotional price of $1,500 through January 15, 2026ā
I ordered Stratos as well. I have about 40 ATMOS albums, all in various formats: MKV, MP4, MLP, WAV 5.1.4 and WAV 9.1.6. I have not done any in WAV 7.1.4 yet. But I can create those from the MKVs. Still have room on the server for more copies of the same things.
Hopefully Edgar will not call my motherās phone number for the install again. Hopefully there will be some instructions coming later today to me via email.
Oh, and hopefully the BACCH active crossover will work. If not, then my surround wide speakers will have to do for Stratosā¦
PS: The following reads like DRP will be my backup player on the Mac. But hopefully BACCH will accept pre-decoded WAV over Blackhole multichannel.
āFor rendering Dolby AtmosĀ® content, BACCH-Stratos accepts up to twelve discrete PCM audio channels that have already been decoded on the Mac by third-party, Dolby-licensed playback applications, such as the Apple Music app, Apple TV, or the Dolby Reference Playerā
I had forgotten to renew my subscription. Got a reminder. Paid but itās now increased to USD 250. Shortly after got the invitation to download v15. It took only 5 mins! First boot up was quite long as per the accompanied instructions. But I love it. Also noticed a new blackness level for the background. Suddenly itās only the music.
