I think the Bacch is supposed to make up for the lack of sound treatment in a room with corrective dsp.
I believe it. Anthemās ARC (Anthem Room Correction) software, while having a different focus, is very effective in this regard.
Having said that, my room and speakersā response is much improved by having some bass attenuation panels in the corners and absorbing panels at the first (and secondary) side wall first reflection points.
I believe less is more with DSP room/speaker correction and ARC can apply a more appropriate/lighter touch when some of the typical room acoustics issues are ameliorated first.
FWIW.
I use both Anthem ARC and Focus Fidelity for room correction. Anthem for 7.1.4 and FF for 2.1. Both work well. The Anthem is a bit more complex and I find the results not bad, but the graphs output a bit what I call unrealistic.
I have much room treatment as my ceiling is very low 7ā3" and room is only 13.5ā wide. Not the best for 2 channel. The FF software results show the peaks handled well but the big null I have around 60Hz not much done⦠as it should be. nothing can fix that at the processor level. You cannot make us sound⦠But the Anthem graphs output seem to have a super smooth curve no matter where I put the speakers or treatments. I just find that suspicious. I am a big Anthem fan, have owned 4 Processors from them over the years as well as Integra and Marantz. ARC is great. But the graphs just puzzle me.
Any way if anyone has any idea on how to fix that NULL I am open to suggestions.
Maybe the magic of the Black Box? Very large traps, 16ā in diameter or more, or double thick Owens Corning 704 insulation, can absorb below 60 cycles. Iāve used both with marginal success, unfortunately.
Good luck.
Tried those. In fact I have 2" think 704 lining my front wall with gap behind it⦠that room node is killer ā¦nothing seems to help.
That was done with HT in mind. One of my winter projects I hope to be pull off the cloth covering, and replace most of it (big rectangle in middle) with vicoustics diffusers.
It does until reflections time delays get too great.
Distribution of subwoofers into room or moving the listening position or speakers. All have other troublesome issues to deal with. Diffusion on long bass wave lengths might move it inches. Unless feet from wall. Most diffusers donāt go low.
moving the seats would be very hard. When I built the room i did risers. I would love to move seats back but they are blocked. It would be a big construction project and new carpeting etc⦠And then not knowing for sure it would work. I have tried speakers all over in 2 foot radius and that null does not go away. Which is why I tried ceiling. I do see some of those floor things in front of speakers. Anyone use them? What are they for? My floor is raised off cement with 1.5" (2x4 on side) with foam insulation in between covered by 3/4" plywood.
I like your idea Darrell! I took my wife to the airport this afternoon so I have a few days of unimpeded audio access.
In my picture, which of the two should be the diffuser? Fireplace or Litterbox?
(I have always wanted to ask āFireplace or Litterbox?ā)
Of course the answer is try both but you wasted a lot of time and effort with the Masterbait fuse. If your thoughts save me some effort Iād be grateful.
Litter box isnāt a constant too many variables for assessment IME.
Those are usually for bounce reflections of mids. Maybe a stack of Rel subwoofers in line array format would change angles enough to kill the bass null.
Place a mirror in tje litterbox if you see icecream cone use diffuser there if you see rabbit berries that idea is a turd.
I decided to listen to music instead.
The mrs. away, the music will play.
SUBS on!!
Yes they are my friend! But at much lower levels than before.
I had Mr. Subwoofer, @paul172 in my room and he said I had them to far up in the mix. When we were done I had them considerably lower. I forgot to turn them down further still and my wife did not complain for three nights at their current level.
I think that is a sign of correct tuning!
(and have I mentioned the Magic Black Boxes here yet?)
So tell more. We all want new black boxes. Well if they come in silver too
@vmax I opened up my Mac Mini a few times today for surgery. Tried replacing the SMPS with a TeraDak at the same time as upgrading the RAM to 32GB. Mac would not restart though. Looked like power not getting through as a USB stick with an LED did not light either. Even if RAM were static-fried, the USB should have lit. I put the SMPS back in and the Mac still did not start. Held down the power button for ten seconds though and it did restart. The RAM upgrade is OK then. One consideration is that TeraDak sent a connector with a 14mm long tip. Whereas the base cables from HD Plex have tips that are only 10mm long.
Questions:
Iām still 4 Rel No. 25ās short of earning that title!
I have a zm-1 Macintosh I didnāt use the HDPlex cable but
This one.
