No apologies! Very interesting and relevant. Thanks!
The thing is, I think -6.0, the default, is probably the most natural. -4.5 and -3.0 are lets say, âenhanced modesâ. I wonder if anyone else has tried these settings?
They are found on control panel #349, in the lower left Quadrant, Galaxy 2 and 3. Just by the settings we should never try. It wouldnât be prudent.
Based on your previous posts in the Summer, I did play around with mono component correction. Some music I preferred at -3.0 and others at -6.0, just as you described. Felix Laband (electronica) was probably with maximum effect and Dominique Fils-Aimé (soul/r&b) the opposite. Before long I got lazy though and simply stuck with 4.5!
Thank you so much for that reply!!!
I fully understand and fully, fully, fully agree with you. Fully!
Electronic Music, Felix Laband being a 100% Ace Example, sounds really good with more depth!
I listen to a lot of Electronic and just generally spacey music. The added depth amuses me.
But I was listening to something where the added depth bothered me. It was vinyl. My first thought was, this canât be better without BACCH Purification. But it was. And I am very happy to fully understand why so I can control it like a pro and move on with my studies while BACCHing out!
Itâs a big BACCHing Relief!!!
Do you keep a settings log?
I am thinking this will cajge once you upgrade rocessor in ADIO to handle BACCH dSP13. That lifts several veils snd improves 3D image clarity. Removes fuzzines around images.
There are no veils, just results from settings I chose. And now that I understand it I can make better choices.
But yeah, I have great expectations for the uograde. I am going to beg Edgar for just one AES/EBU input. Even if it is a cable through a hole to the proper XLR jack.
I keep a log of each poop. Time, consistency, bouquet, cleanup effort. That sort of thing.
Seems with 13,5 Bacch dSP for Bacch4mac audiophile it is defaulted to -3.0. I am curious but I thought it was -6.0
Canât say Iâm surprised.
I Believe it is different numbers for the big metal boxes and the BACCH4MAC folks.
Hooray! Hooray! Itâs that day!
On another forum I talked a new friend into buying a BACCH-SP adio and today it arrived. He had his session with Edgar today as well. It is of course, the MK3 version so he is probably hearing an even better presentation than I get now. Trying to take it all in what with the iPad controller and itâs endless screens of âplay with thisâ.
But hey, a new friend has a new adio. Thatâs cool.
I am still enjoying my bacch4mac immensely thanks for opening that door. Easily the most impactful purchase one can find in audio. I sat staring in awe at my soundstage tonight remembering when the audio world was behind the speakers 95 percent of the time. One was amazed for those out in the room fleeting images. Now it is all the time just more special moments.
Itâs good stuff. I am so pleased with it.
I talked with Edgar yesterday. I begged him for an AES/EBU port to be added. He told me they were bringing the top of the line unit back in a V3 version. Hmmmmm
In any form, I believe it is a crucial tool that I will not be without.
The Stereo Purifier. Your gosh darned right.
That is an expensive AES/EBU port. Since I spent over 3500 on a Inakustik pure silver USB cable I feel kind of locked into Bacch4mac since changing means more expensive output cables. If I were to upgrade to the ADIO I would want to understand the embedded MAC Mini power supply and internal shielding since the LPS was a big sound change. If the internal DAC on BACCH SP improves SQ so much other worries are pointless and see if I could just sell my DS mk2 DAC?
The clear advantage to B4M is you can choose to upgrade the Mac Mini any time you feel like it without sending anything to the factory. That is a very good advantage.
I know this is only uBACCH but I will install it on my 8cs and give it a try.
Firmware version 2.4 was officially released on Oct 18th 2023. This version makes the 8c the first ever loudspeakers capable of running commercial third-party plugins. The release furthermore includes the BACCH plugin for 3D spatial audio, a quick menu in the Ascend app and improved stability when switching between streaming sources. If you use the Ascend app to control your 8câs, it is recommended to update to the latest version of the app before installing this firmware.
The D&D plug-in is more expensive (by a lot) than I expected, but I requested the free trial and within hours had access. Note, there is no way to adjust the BACCH settings â the plug-in is either on or off. [EDIT: the settings are based on the distance measurements for the speakers, so I suppose there is some customization based on distance between the speakers and from the speakers to the wall.]
Have been playing around with it. On the few albums Iâve tried so far, the sound changes significantly and for the better. I need to explore the BACCH music thread on this forum to find better examples, but for now I like what I hear.
Whether it is worth the price of admission, Iâm not sure yet. For those that are wondering, itâs around $1,000.
Solution! Just trade in the adio for the V3 flagship model and no downtime having the adio upgraded!
V3 and AES input.
