Theoretica Applied Physics BACCH

,

You have to install the roon bridge software. Then roon will find your mini.

It will work with black hole. You have to create a composite device, BH+your dac. Name it SF4BACCH (exactly like this). Then you run the script in auto-configure with that name. You should have sound.

But first you could try hitting the resend audio button in the main window, upper left.

If it helps.

Indeed. That’s how it is described in the sales literature. BACCH-SP (Stereo Purifier)

@jvvita Thanks for that Roon Bridge lead. It probably should be mentioned on the Theoretica schematic for Roon. It just mentions “Ethernet”. That I have!

Roon Bridge does not seem to restart automatically with the Mac. And I did not see a control for this in the Mac settings. But Roon is not a long-term thing for me. Is just the neighbour seeing if he likes BACCH on my system, but the way he would use it with Roon and Linkwitz crossovers.

I still have not solved the microphone in. “Free All Channels” did not result in my being able switch to inputs 9 and 10 from the RME Fireface 802. I will wait a bit until Theoretica folks are back from Axpona.

Yes, I use SF4BACCH already with my other interface and an external PSA MK2 DAC. I did need to use it to get Roon to play with the RME today too. Otherwise, by selecting the Fireface 802FS in Roon, the music did not get all the way into BACCH. Surprised me a little bit. I guess it is because there is no pre-configuration for the Fireface 802FS, “only” for the Babyface, the Fireface UCX and the MADIFace.

I am pretty happy that I got enough done for the day. Even without the XTC and ORC filters, it was fun to show the neighbour how easy the BACCH crossover module is. Today, he crosses over at 600Hz to his big TADs, since they are flat from 600Hz up. But he had been complaining that female vocals were going odd as the pitch went up. After today’s playing, he is ready to consider running his wide-bands up to 1200Hz before switching over to the big TADs. He also has little TADs for further up. But we only had three-ways to play with in BACCH. Note: the wide-bands take over from the woofers at 120Hz.

I am glad it worked out and music is playing.

The Roon bridge control is in the taskbar, right next to the clock. Click with right mouse button and select “start at login” or something like that. Then you are set.

I really can’t help more with the rme interface. But as long as blackhole works, you have music!

No, I’m not sure he said it was. I wanted to go back to the room but never made it.

Doh. All I needed to do to unlock the mic input was to click on the word,“locked“

Who could have imagined that…

Someone waking up sober on Monday morning after the local football team won the national championship 5 to 0. Meant for lots of neighbourhood schnapps toasting.

Love the rigged volume control on the Luxman.

Hehe yup. I like it too, wrote code to handle the stepper motor volume control and display. Working perfectly so far.

Times 2 on the remote. And also love the look of that amp. Timeless beauty.

Nice. What is this cable on your baby face input?

Do you have the bacch software installed?

No software installed yet. Cable is a cheapo toslink going from the CD transport to the babyface for eventual transfer to the MAC for XTC processing. I will need to connect my turntable too to it but not sure how yet. My guess is I will need a pair of 1/4" to RCA adapter so I can use inputs from the other side.

That is what I am doing. It’s fine. The BabyFace Pro is an excellent device!

Nice. Edgar will advise on the turn table. My guess is that you could use either the instruments inputs (1/4) or the same XLR input you use for the mic (turning off the 48v phantom power).

But he will guide you through.

I didn’t think of using the mic inputs! Good get!
