Well, the speaker cannot be used horizontally as a center channel. Performance is very poor in this configuration. It needs to remain upright.
I can discuss a center channel project with management here but the effort and quantities versus the number of potential sales have so far made it a non-starter. With out cabinet vendor, we have to commit to hundreds of units and this would be more than the lifetime sales of a center speaker (based off of our lack of presence in the high end home theater world).
Center channels acutally see about 60 percent of the total amplifier energy in a home theater 9as dialogue and action is focused on-screen a lot). If you want to play at reference levels alongside the FR30, you may need to high-pass them (something like 60-80 Hz liter will allow the play even louder).
I have a pair of Monitor Audio Platinum PL500 2G, which are only sold in pairs as with many other brands.
Buying a “small” Platinum C250 3G would not have seemed very coherent to me and I am listening to multichannel movie tracks with a “phantom center” configuration.
For now, I have only found the Magico distributor ready to send me an A5 individually to fill this “sonic gap”.
Now I read that PS Audio could also sell a possible FR30-20 individually.
Does this also apply to Italy or only to America?
At least on paper, I am choosing between PS Audio and Magico, the two towers most similar to mine.
How do serial numbers and/or matching pairs work with PSA speakers? Does a pair use consecutive serial numbers, as is pretty typical, or alternatively where the serial numbers themselves indicate the pair (e.g., SN 11726R/11726L or 11726A/11726B)?
And how does sale of single unit (rather than pair) impact all that, if at all (I guess if the SN’s in a pair have no significance relative to one another then it wouldn’t, for example)?
