Consider eliminating all switching from the output section. At the top level of DAC, it makes sense to maximize sound quality at the expense of convenience features. A single balanced output with no options would be sufficient.

When you say “all switching”, what do you have in mind? In the existing DS DACs there’s a mute relay and that’s the only thing in the signal path between the transformers and the output sockets. You don’t think a relay can be sonically transparent?
