Consider eliminating all switching from the output section. At the top level of DAC, it makes sense to maximize sound quality at the expense of convenience features. A single balanced output with no options would be sufficient.

When you say âall switchingâ, what do you have in mind? In the existing DS DACs thereâs a mute relay and thatâs the only thing in the signal path between the transformers and the output sockets. You donât think a relay can be sonically transparent?
