USB cable for NPC?

While waiting for my NPC to ship, I downloaded and read the manual (thanks for putting it up in advance, Paul). The manual says that the quality of the USB cable from NPC to computer makes a difference. I’d like to order one now, so it will be here ready to go when the NPC arrives – I don’t have anything around I can use. Any suggestions about what to order? I’ve never used a USB cable for audio before; it will be connected to a Windows machine (Win7, perhaps 8 later). Thanks – David

Best value I have used is the Belkin Gold for $ 5-6, yes it’s quite good, my current, and better than the Audioquest Diamond I think, is the Transparent Premium, but expensive at $650 for 1 1/2 m if I remember right.

Wireworld are very decent bang for buck. @rmkarman gets a 25% discount ont them, so I order through him. Silver starlight 7 USB is around $180 for 1m.

Thanks for the UPS recommendations, guys. It also occurs to me that I should get a decent power cord. I imagine that one of PSA’s own cords would work well with the NPC. I haven’t tried any of them recently. Suggestions for which one would work well? The AC5? AC10?

The AC12 is what I use, but then I get a deal on them

This is a very important cable for this device, the differences clearly notable. An AC3, 5 or 12 would be great.

Thanks, Paul–I will definitely find a good power cord. I am looking forward to the NPC and hope you and your employees are not affected too badly by the flooding. In upstate NY where I live we had bad floods a couple of years ago, so I know it’s tough.

You might consider the Signal Cable MagicPower Digital Reference http://signalcable.com/digitalpowerHC.html or the Cullen Cable Crossover power cable. http://cullencable.com/index.php/products/power-cables/crossover-series Both seem to have good reports and sometimes inexpensive works extremely well. Both of those are still on my shopping list for future needs. I already have several Cullen Cables products and they all seem to be pretty good and still cheaper than most and much cheaper than many.

How much is 'cheaper than most' ?

The Cullen Cable Crossover power cable is $175 for 3ft. and $191 for 5ft.

The Signal Cable MagicPower Digital Reference power cable is $79 for 3ft. and $109 for 5ft.

Other lengths are available on the websites.

Yes that is cheaper. I like P.I. audio’s power cables, about $250 for 3 m.

@wingsounds13: Thanks for the two recommendations. I had not heard of Signal Cable before, but will check them out along with Cullen.

Stereophilus: thanks for the plug!!!

And yes, I can get any Wireworld Series 7 cable (incl USB) with a 25% discount.

The Starlight 7 USB cables are regarded to be one of the best and developed specifically for audio.
