USB input a hassle with Macs

I am playing files via USB from a MacBook Pro to the DAC.

I find that once the Mac “loses” the DAC - say the Mac was put to sleep or cables were moved - the only thing that seems to get the Mac and the DAC to see one another again is to power cycle reboot the DAC.

Every other DAC I’ve had has just always stayed connected, or worst case unplugging the USB cable and plugging it back in always worked.

But with the DirectStream, nothing short of a power cycle seems to work.

Anyone else?

Hi BillK,

Thanks for reaching out to us about this.

If you can, please confirm your firmware version installed in your DAC.

We recommend you make sure that you’re DAC’s firmware is fully up to date.

If you need any assistance with this please reach out to me at service@psaudio.com

Thanks,

I can confirm similar issues with MacBook Pro to DS running Huron requiring a DAC repower to reconnect.

I reported this issue, and mentioned it here in the forum, on my day 1 with Huron. The work-around solution is to keep the Mac powered on, and either leave DSJ also powered on, or at least put it to sleep via the front button. If the Mac has been left on, when DSJ wakes up it should make the connection.

It was Huron for me as well.
