Just recently purchased a multi channel Home Theater Amp which will be hooked up to a Pre-Amp.
The unit is a Class D Buckeye amp. NC-252 MP
The Home Theater is NOT an audiophile set up and is not my primary system.
The main speakers are old AMT (air motion transformer) AMT-1A speakers that are 6 ohm. Left and right speakers. The speakers are 7ft away from the listener’s chair and will NOT be pushed heavily.
The question is… will the PS Audio Soloist squelch the dynamics of the Class D amp . It will not be driven hard… (Hypex NC 252 MP amp)… it produces 250 watts into 4 ohm.
The goal of using the Soloist is to clean up any noise in the 110v line.
Any comments appreciated
By the way , I have a P10 regenerator and its been fantastic for many years. Love the PS Audio products.
Yes indeed use it. It will not affect your gear’s ability but may well
be an improvement.
Have one since they first came out around 1996…
it really is a very nice piece and does a good job of cleaning
the AC before going into you gear.
Still in use, and helps my system though I also employ a P15
The Solist is not though a regenerator and thus has it’s limitations.
Go for using it if you have one.
Best wishes
Nope, not at all. The Soloist used heavy gauge wire with minimalist turns and shouldn’t squelch any dynamics.
Paul just curious…
Since there is a market for devices that are similar in nature
to mitigate nose on the line…
Why not bring back the Soloist in a truly new and improved version?
Thanks Paul
Best wishes
Not a bad idea!
Also while we have you Paul, How long is the lifespan on the soloist? I’m using one in a garage system from 2010. Also using an Ultimate Outlet in another system from 1999! Is that(UO) still safe to use? Its been perfect and in use for 26 years.
Thanks!
How about a new improved Quintessence, I have one as well!!
It was still working pulling duty for my TV, but as of recently
while t does not click, it seems to have trouble (the front panel
still lights up but power not flowing it is 19 years old. Not bad
at all)
The Hitachi nanocrystaline high super permeability transformer compact highly effective compared to may transformers used in tol transformers used today.
It too was an asset in my system until I finally got my P-5, then to P12 and now to P15 my fav so far.
Thanks Paul!!
Best wishes
