We also love cars

My wife has an XC90 Hybrid. Great vehicle.

I heard those new XC90’s are great! I owned a 2005 - it was very nice.

Does it have the B&W sound system?

I don’t think so. We bought it new but out of inventory. It had most of the options she wanted but not the upgraded audio. My wife only cares about background music. Audio is my thing.

Ahh! Fair enough! Very nice.

I always appreciate someone who knows they are spelled differently and which is which.

I have a 335i and a S1000RR.

No ā€œforced airā€ of any kind…?

I think something along these lines was what formed the basis of question of ā€œhowā€ you have achieved 800 ponies.

RSVP.

Yes no forced air induction , I cannot take the credit for the numbers that this engine puts out a good friend of mine that does this for a living, this is actually a low horse power engine for him the ones he builds are around 10,000 hp I’m fortunate enough to have a friend that was able to have some parts made for me he is also known for having his own heads cast especially for Oldsmobile and Mopar . I don’t want to post his name with out his permission . He is involved with the NHRA .

It would get very technical and some of it is beyond my capability to give you all the specs on how he achieve those numbers we were going to go for more but that required his custom heads and a supercharger I didn’t need that for what i use the car for it is a lot of fun

Well, there (really) is no replacement for displacement.

Enjoy.

A positive displacement supercharger comes very close. No lag and the increased air charge is linear. The experience of the driver is exactly as if the engine is larger.

That’s my saying, it is 501 cubic inches and I am sorry I did not mention I do have nitrous on it that gives me the last 100hp .

Yes there is. It’s called boost, and it works extremely well for ā€œreplacingā€ displacement.

Also, another ā€œreplacementā€ for displacement is modern technology in engine design. Even in N/A form, there’s plenty of smaller displacement engines these days pumping out a lot more power and toque than larger engines from 10, even 5 years ago.

Exactly.

Modern technology, with engines is amazing the amount of horsepower and torque they get out of them however, that said, the same rule still applies there still is no replacement for displacement take the modern technology and add that to some displacement and you got some beast on your hands LOL

OK - tried to stay out of this just had to discuss ci/HP and torque… not even get into the weight of the ride… a 500ci motor producing 800HP w/ 100HP of nitrous… one could argue… BFD! a 376ci engine producing 800HP, then another 150+HP w/ boost… your call… OH, forgot… 3,000-lb car…
My 61 Vette engine is 376ci w/ just shy of 1KHP
Here is the dyno of the supercharged LS3
LS3 w/ 2.9 Whipple Supercharger - Dyno Video

A 1KHP motor is no big deal these days - my Z06 has 650HP w/ 650lbs and it is a production motor getting over 25mpg… 800HP is common…

0-60mph in less than 3 seconds; 200+mph top end, 26mpg (witnessed, I measured)… now that is a marvel of engineering!

Forgot - production, off the showroom floor, no engine shop touched it yet…

I have owned both and a blown motor does it every time… I drive my 600HP 6V-71 blown deuce Coupe around and get pretty good gas mileage… I step on it and BAM… that car is a beast…

The numbers that I got out of my 1968 technology does not compare to today’s technology. Today’s Cars are far superior than what they were doing in the 60s and 70s. it’s apples and oranges you can’t compare a car from today to a car from yesterday I am not trying to do that. Everyone was trying to tell me to put a LSX 427 in my car with twin turbos very easy to get 2000 hp.I just wanted to keep it olds powered and get as much as I could out of it , I like nostalgia

Me too, I have both… and both are bad ass… 800HP is NBFD! my 383 stroker gets 600HP… old school dual 750CFM dual quad…

Yes I seen your car in a post very nice, we have a lot in common. I used to be a semi pro bicycle rider myself however illness took a lot away for me. I am lucky to be here and thanks for having me on this forum
