What are you spinning now? Mark 11

First LP I bought with my own money was Led Zeppelin III back in 1970. I was 10 and my parents were less than thrilled.

My parents were very tolerant of the music I purchased and listened to. I would spend hours either in our living room listening to the records on their stereo console or in my room listening to them on my MCS turntable connected to an H.H Scott 222C integrated tube amp that my uncle gave to me in 1978. I guess they figured that it was better for me to be at home listening to music than out with my friends getting into trouble.

I still have that integrated amp and I personally recapped it during the height of the 2020 covid lockdown. At that time I also bought a full complement of tubes for it. I am pleased to say that after the refurbishment it sounds the best that I have ever heard it. I was very pleased with the outcome.

My parents were as well, until I brought home Cheech and Chong’s Wedding Album. That was the only album that ever disappeared out of my room.

LOL. I bought Cheech and Chong’s Up in smoke, and still have it.

Edit: The album was their self-titled album, not up in smoke. Up in smoke was the movie that was out at the time that I bought the album.

there’s no doubt that New Orleans music has a huge Cuban music influence.
