New on Qobuz. 24/192. Four Venetian composers. If album covers were like food packaging then Vivaldi would appear in bold type as a potential allergen (and Tartini should really be marked as potentially indigestible). Veracini and Locatelli are both OK, so I find my lack of enthusiasm for any of this album surprising. The sound was excellent and the performances of high quality, even if the arrangements seemed a little unconventional at times. It just didn’t work for me, although I might be jaded after a short night.
