What are you spinning now? Mark 7

I live in London, so Tier 4, but given my wife’s liberal interpretation of the regulations I am just hoping devoutly that the jab gets to me before the bug does. Wishing everybody A Very Happy New Year!

A Gillie.!

Last night it was this. A great album that sadly suffers from the loudness wars of the late 90’s - 2000’s. The DSSr. helps but it can only polish a Turd so much. They never issued it on SACD and any subsequent CD also sound like crap. Great Bass Test CD though

I had to look Gillie up,

This morning on the STAX/KOSS rig. Compressed Dolby Digital DVD but sounds fantastic. Sometimes you just gotta listen (and watch) and forget about how it’s reproduced…sometimes. Regret missing this show in Toronto that year.

Y’all would get a good laugh of my southern drawl with a hillbilly twang saying Gillie

CD-R. mp3. I had to drive my wife for a hospital consultation today and, since Covid meant that I could not accompany her, listened to CD 6 on this album whilst waiting in the car. The sound quality is nowhere near what I get on my home systems but it did remind me that the fundamental enjoyment of a piece of music does not require all the audiophile gloss. An excellent album.

Qobuz. CD. This is an album with a mix of Georgian chamber music, popular ballads, and bawdy street ballads. I liked it and can imagine that, if I had heard it as a live performance, would have felt that I had had a very enjoyable evening.
