Newish on Qobuz. HR. I was a bit conflicted about this album. I like Jordi Savall, but oratorios are not my favourites, and Vivaldi has been abused to the point of aversion. After the first couple of trumpet heavy tracks were over the echoes of The Four Seasons receded a bit, and the mezzo-soprano was not too alarmingly shrill, although she did do a fair amount of warbling. Overall it sounded like a real performance, and I sat out the two hours without overmuch distress.

I like Bernfeld, so this album looked interesting. I confess that I cheated by skipping to the final chaconne to start with. Joy!
