Like your taste in Blue Notes. Looks like your into the Don Was BN 80 reissues, and the Tone Poet reissues as well. I have three more in the mail to me today, Horace Silver and 2 Jazz Messengers. Release date is 11/15/19.

Streaming to see if it is worth a purchase. Has a '70’s spiritual jazz sound to it. Reminiscent of Doug Karn and the Black Jazz Series. Recorded in wonderful lo-fi.

I love this one, bought it when released. Wish there were a lot more just like it.

Consider this one, again lo-fi:

And then there is Kamasi Washington, and the reissued Soul Jazz from the 1970’s Black Jazz Label, and some of the recent Makaya McCraven on International Anthem.

And then an interesting compilation:

I don’t really dig the Khmet stuff, I do have the Kamasi Washington stuff, I have the We Out Here comp, and I have a lot of the Black Jazz stuff.

Still none of that is really like Wisdom of our Ancestors to me, wish they were.

Similar, but each follows their own path. That saidI agree the Wisdom of Elders with Shabaka and the Ancestors stands out. Now I think I’ll spin some Strata-East.

I’m sorry, I steered the title wrong, it’s Wisdom of Elders. It’s the African players I think that make this special for me.

Just noticed your post. Yes, I am spending a small fortune on new old vinyl and the smaller digital discs. It’s addictive! Luckily - I have a very healthy pension!
