This album does not possess the best sound, but it is listenable. I get a kick out of the tremendous variety, all written in the baroque period - incredible diversity at the time.
Disc 1. Just picked up this massive box set from Bear Family. When a music industry grew to be huge, in an unlikely place, in the most organic way.
Dean Peer ‘UCROSS’. Sounds as fresh and original as when I first heard it 20 years ago. Left me slack jawed then. Still does.
I once described “Jerry Jeff Walker” (1972) as the “Exile on Main Street” of outlaw country. Unfortunately, this classic album does not appear to stream and, to make matters worse, Raven Records, the Australian label that reissued “JJW” on CD in 2011 as “Jerry Jeff Walker Plus” (RVCD 320) with some live bonus tracks taken from the “A Man Must Carry On” LP, has since gone under, resulting in high prices for the long-OOP “JJW Plus” CD; there do not appear to be any legal downloading options. I consider this to be a desert island disc and it is a shame that it so difficult to find in digital form.
Most people never get to see the real thing up close and personal. They are a beauty to behold. Lucky you!
