Qobuz. CD, The fruitless search for the Nigel North Piccanini album threw up this one. Lindberg plays well, and it was a very satisfactory listen. I enjoy it when I can hear the small incidental noises associated with fingering, but these were not apparent here. Distinction between a theorbo and a chitarrone left for someone more scholarly than I am.
The difference between a theorbo and a chitarrone is the chitarrone is badass. This cover is a good example. He could be playing a lute ditty, about to play a Van Halen riff, or about to rock the solo from Comfortably Numb. No matter, it’s badass.
