Newish on Qobuz. HR, I am really enjoying this album. Alternating pure instrumental pieces with ones with vocal accompaniment. The soprano is not too forward on these latter so you do not lose the details of the instruments, which appear to be period examples of the violon family. plus lute, with a rich timbre spectrum. Some Renaissance pieces

This can be one of the downsides of capturing the full dynamic range of a dramatic piece, such as a Mahler Symphony; the overall level will be low.

Bottomless Pit - Shade Perennial

I am not sure that I quite understand. I finally found a set of test tones that the b****y 2i would play. When using the Sprout100 I had the sub set so that the sound-meter recorded a pretty linear volume from 100 down to 20hz. The sub is set to start cutting in at 75hz. With the 2i, even with the sub volume at max, it is dropping by about -6db throughout the 20-70hz region. This corresponds with my subjective impression that it lacked the correct impact. I am peeved :frowning:

I misunderstood. You are complaining about the sub, not the recording you posted.
