Norton, Is the sound quality typical DSD?

This is my favorite time of the year for music. I have quite the collection of Xmas CDs and vinyl. My daughter likes it so much, sometimes we will have Christmas in July with my mini tree. IMG_1959.JPG

Getting with the program here. This was just released by Bear Family Records.

I only knew Dizzy, as a kid, as the guy who blew his horn with big cheeks. Didn’t know what an innovator he was at all. On the other hand, how many kids today can even name a single jazz artist? I knew more than a few, they were everywhere in popular culture.

amsco15 said Nice Christmas selections. I’m not there yet.
While I accept Christmas music is fair game after Thanksgiving, I have already heard too much Christmas music - especially pop Christmas songs. Yuck.

On the classical side, I have attended enough rehearsals already to start getting tired of Christmas - although Bach’s Christmas Oratorio has great trumpet parts.

Tabascocat1994, my wife loves Christmas music as well so I bought The Wonderful Sound of Christmas for her last year. I would say the sound quality is typical Analog Productions which is quite good.

premiered today in 1901 with the Kaim (Munich) Orchestra…

Disc 1

Certainly not the classic period but still deep Memphis R&B. The first Stax Box set was my introduction to a deeper side of Black American R&B. I will always be grateful for Stax Records in general and the first Stax set specifically. It’s been a fun musical ride since.

I’ve always assumed that Henry Mancini was blue collar classical. A step below, but I just love Henry Mancini…if the shoe fits.

A composer of wonderful film scores - creative, wonderful melodies, beautifully crafted. Nothing to look down upon.

Remember, the score to West Side Story spectacular, composed for a musical. Nothing to look down upon.

My guess is Mozart were alive today he would be writing film scores, alone with dedicated concert pieces.

A Christmas record right up my alley. Love this stuff. It’s a modern recording so some of the songs, first track, are pretty squashed. Most of the tracks sound great. I’m playing a 24/44.1 FLAC from HDtracks. Highly doubt it sounds better than the CD.

Sunday mornng with great coffee and brilliant sunshine filling our house. Wife’s reading the Tribune. Life is good.

Disc 5, the Spanish side. The quality for a bunch of 1927 recordings is astonishing.

A couple Christmas albums and a few Bass beers to get a Sunday morning started.

A neat series.

I have long maintained our ability to record sound has always greatly exceeded our capability to play it back.

I live in redneck north central Florida. He is too old now but David Allan Coe used to play here all the time. The Outlaws are the real deal----
